Alpha Mule
First things first: I'm only interested in doing this legally! I'm totally skint, so can't affort a new gun. I might manage to persuad the wife to part with enough cash to get my FAC though (she quite enjoys the flavour of rabbit). Does anyone know if an Umarax Airmagnum 850 .22 can be powered up from below 12ft/lbs? The land I have permission on is a farm and is quite open. The waskals see me coming far too easily, before I get anywhere near 30yrds anyway. I can shoot in a reasonably straight line, so usually hit the ones I can get close enough to. So, can it be done(I'm assuming this is a no brainer), how is it done, how will Mr Plod require to test the gun to see what power is will be running at? I know there is a trigger spring that will need to be upgraded to take a higher pressure from the bottle and probably another spring that needs to be more powerful to hold a valve open longer, but what permanent changes will have to be made? Ferret Master
What power is it at currently? FM
Alpha Mule
It's straight out of the box. I'm told they are about 11.5ft/lbs on a warmish day. Edited June 9, 2009 by Alpha Mule
Ferret Master
You don't want to go any higher than that. Would eat co2 like no tomorrow. FM Edited June 9, 2009 by Ferret Master
Alpha Mule
Was also thinking that I could convert it to HPA and a bigger bottle (starting to get on the thin ice with the Mrs here though).
brian45
check out this site, all the info about how to tune your 850 http://www.network54.com/Index/84463
Alpha Mule
Thanks Brian. I found it the other day and have spent WAY too much time there (according to the Mrs)
Bleeh
You will be surprised how much extra gas you will use when changing to FAC with a gas gun. The re-fills are so expensive, I don't see there being much economic sence in doing this.
Alpha Mule
It looks to be a massive drop in pellets per fill/bottle. However there are pages that cover upping the bottle size as well as the power and conversion to High Pressure Air. There is even one where you connect via a hose to a much bigger buddy bottle "for range work". Much to think on. I just wish I had enough cash to buy a shottie or rim fire (and the ammo, nice big safe, bla, bla). I think I'll leave the 850 as is for the time being though. As the saying goes "Speed is just a matter of money. How fast can you afford to go?"

Or get you a old BRNO .22 and safe for about the same...
