edr
I have just reached the age of 14 and i am half way through filling out an FAC application form, i have a few questions: Q1)If u want extra mags do they go with Type (so would it be .22lr+mod+extra mag  )? Q2)Both my dad and i will apply for certificates and will share the same cabinet, so what should i put about how much ammunition i can own (once my dad gives it to me) (any recommendations for amount of ammo allowed in a 5/6 gun cabinet with top box) should we split it so i have a 1/4 and my dad 3/4's. Q3)i have already had a 2 hour shotgun certrificate interview, will FAC be much different? Many Thanks EDR
Guest topshot_2k
you dont need to declare extra mags. FAC will be more in depth, you need to know about backstops, safe firing angles, ranges and limitations of you chosen calibre.

You only need 2 mags max, one in the gun and one in your pocket, so don't go all rambo! If you're applying for a .22LR, 500 buy/1000 own will be fine. You could ask for 1000buy/1100own, but you're looking at about £80 to fill all that up and a lot of shooting to get rid of all of those. Just remember that you are two cetificate holders sharing a cabinet, so what you ask for will not affect your dad's, so he can ask for more, or less than you, just so long as you don't ask for a ridiculous amount. If you've already met your FEO for an interview, I seriously doubt he'll want to see you for another two hours. He will need to write some stuff down about you though, so I really think you should hold off in applying for your FAC for a few weeks, spend those up at the clay ground or wherever, shooting and then you can at least tell him about your shooting and what you have been taught, as you'll just get slapped with conditions that'll limit what you can do, if you don't prove that you have much experience in handling firearms. Good luck  and let us know how it goes. Edited June 10, 2009 by harfordwmj

I am an active member of my schools CCF, i have organized many rang days using .22s and 5.56mms + i am also a student amourer (helping to clean service and maintain the schools 60 odd rifles.). Do you think this will help??? and should i get a letter from the contingent confirming that?? I am also good friends with a keeper from a 16,00 acre estate he has section 1,2 and 5 firearms. I have shot with him on the beaters days and can go out rifle/pistol shooting with him for some extra experience, should i just note that i have been out with him a few times. Many Thnaks EDR Mate From what youve said you will probably know more about firearms than your FEO - It all boils down to your attitude towards safety etc. You sound like your on the right track with the CCF etc. Good luck with it. Billy.
Agreed. I used to do CCF and loads of shooting before I got my licence, so I think you're fine then. Go for it and make sure you keep telling him how much shooting you've done, as he'll be writing it all down for his boss to see, as fundamentally, it is he who makes the final decision, so what your FEO hears and writes down is what his boss will read. good luck
