Shaun Robert
Out at the Woodies last week, not a bad day but i noticed that every bird i picked up (after the dog had let me have it) was really thin ,razor sharp breast bone like a winter woodie, is this because they are too busy He ing and She ing, or are they off their food. Cranfield
About 5/6 weeks ago when the pigon moved off the rape, I thought some that I shot were a bit thin. It could be that they were on ivy berries, these seem to be a diaretic and the birds lose condition fast. Once they get on to clover and drillings their condition improves quickly. I think they are at their best around wheat harvest time, thats certainly when they taste the best.
