bruno22rf Posted June 16, 2009 Report Share Posted June 16, 2009 I think that you will struggle to make a dent in their numbers with a rimfire cos you cant really shoot them in the trees.If they are hanging around farm buildings i would suggest you borrow an airgun and use something like eggs to get them close-a dead rabbit with the guts hanging out will also work for magpies.Im thinking a shottie is your best tool-anything over a .410 should be ample cos neither are hard to kill.Magpies are best ambushed at the roost but you need perfect cammy gear and loads of patience-jackdaws normally follow the same route each night to roost and can be good sport as they tend to be quite high and fast.If all else fails then a larsen trap is a good investment.
