herbman
Being a newbie was just wondering if it is worth going and having a shoot when there is very little or no wind? Have been told it's a waste of time but I don't think anytime in a field is a waste. Just thought I'd get your views and opinions. Thanks

Cranfield
I think its harder to decoy birds when there is little, or no wind. When its windy the birds want to fly in and settle asap and commit to the decoys quickly, the sound of shots is also dispersed quickly in the wind. Wind also seems to make birds restless and keeps them on the move. On really still, sunny days, with the bees buzzing, I often have a kip. Them sunny days get you like that cranfield , unless like me you set up by a tree then get woken by a swarm of bees wanting to get in their front door under my seat, sure makes you move quickly ! rigwallet
pigeons still move around and feed no matter what the wind is so go and have a go even if you get no shots you will observing flight lines and such forth and to me sat in a field is far better than sat in the house. THEINVISIBLESCARECROW
Wait for perfect condition to go shooting & you'll wait forever. On windy days they fly super fast & on a mission to get somewhere & just might ignore your deeks to go to a more sheltered feed area. If your field is the local hot spot they'll not wait for the perfect day to feed. They'll starve if they did.
