J@mes
My cousin (who were are getting our puppy from) had two bitches made pregnant by the same sire - the mother of our pup had 10, and her sister was pregnant with 14. She fell ill on sunday and died that night after 12 of the pups were delivered by C-section, 10 days early. Is it common for bitches carrying big litters to fall ill, and die? :(

swift4me
I had a friend in California who had a champion Springer bitch who died during the birth, totally out of the blue. Great health otherwise and WHAM. The pups made it, although I'm not certain of the full numbers, but she didn't make it.
rickyspringer
what very sad news, that is truly heart breaking....what type of breed was she, not that it makes any difference so so tragic.
J@mes
She was a Labrador (Fox Red), gorgeous girl! one more of the puppies died last night but luckily the mother of my pup is allowing the newborns to feed which is taking the pressure off my cousin a fair bit. al4x
Simple answer is it can happen and the C section just complicates things as thats another source of trauma / infection. May be worth getting a post Mortem done just to confirm what the cause was but it can just be one of those things. The fact the pups were early indicates something was wrong
