My Rotary is on its last legs.

Recommended Posts

I was out for a few hours this morning on some swathed rape (before I got rained off) and my rotary was making a strange noise.

With two hypaflaps on it was making a quiet clicking noise and with two dead birds on, it was making a louder clicking noise.

Obviously, whatever ails it, is made worse when the motor is under pressure.

Its a Pinewood original slimline model (almost an antique) and they do fit a new motor for about £90 plus postage.

However, it is really heavy and I am now debating whether to get a lightweight model (most are under £100) .

My main concern is that my rotary probably gets more use in a month, than some get in a year and are these cheaper lighter models up to it.

Cranfield,

the gearboxes were a big problem with the early Pinewoods, we went through dozens in the early days. They fixed this in the later model.

You get what you pay for! From my experience of regular use none of the cheap machines last very long.

The best machine I have ever used is an origional magnet, big and bulky but lasted longer than 50 others!!!

Mark.
