scotttomo
Been having problems with my S10 bbk of late,so to help sort the problem out i bought a combro chrono (ace bit of kit for cash too) to check the consistency of power as i thought it may be a regulator issue?! Got my chrono 2nite from js.ramsbottoms who i salute for bein so bloody quick gettin it to me ;D Set the chrono up for the jsb's i'm using 8.4 grains and fired 10 shots through it to get a decent idea of changes in power. The results were interesting: Figures are in ftlbs- 1st:10.21 2nd:11.60 3rd:8.97 4th:10.08 5th:8.24 6th:11.11 7th:9.02 8th:8.96 9th:11.72 10th:8.08 I'm coming to the conclusion that my s10 is not well at all!! Surly there should not be this much variation in power?! And shots 2 & 11 are close to the legal limit!! Any ideas anyone? Cheers in advance for any replies, Scott Edited July 10, 2009 by scotttomo

scotttomo
Cheers Col been on the bsaog forum and someone on there seems to think it could be a hammerspring or reg problem! Gonna save up some pennys and send it off to john bowkett to be sorted and blueprinted. Wanted it blue printing anyhoo so as good a time as any Thanks again, Scott
Benellimelody
Think i've got a similar problem with my S10 mate. A dont have a chrono but can tell its power is low (Not sure about it fluctuating tho?) How much do you think it will cost to get sorted? scotttomo
Think i've got a similar problem with my S10 mate. A dont have a chrono but can tell its power is low (Not sure about it fluctuating tho?) How much do you think it will cost to get sorted? Hey there Benellimelody. I spoke to John bowkett today about the problem and he said it sounds like the seals in the reg have gone, which accounts for the fluctuations in power. Now he didn't say how much reg would cost to fix, but said it would be sorted if i did want it blueprinted, which is the route i'm taking. A blueprint costs 75 quid then the price of the return post is 21.65, so 96.65 in total if your getting it blueprinted plus the cost of you sending the rifle to him. Not cheap but from the reports of people who have had their s10's worked on by him, well worth it!! Try joining the bsa owners group forum mate. It's a top site, much like this but has more bsa info you could shake a big stick at . JB's number is on there too with a sticky devoted to questions on the man himself. Try giving him a ring, he's a really nice bloke and i'm sure will let you know how much the reg only will be to fix. Good luck and hope you get it sorted soon mate I know too well how much of a ball ache it can be to have an ill rifle ATB, Scott
Benellimelody
Thanks for that Scott. Yeah it is frustrating when shes not firing on all cylinders. I think i'll do that and give him a buzz cos it sounds worth it mate. Thanks Again James
drut
Super 10 reg seals are known to fail but aren't that bad to change.Chambers http://www.gunspares.co.uk/shopdisplayproducts.asp?page=7 stock them if you can't match them locally. Its also worth checking the seal inside the barrel (puff of air magazine area when fired) if power is down.
