mikee
took my 15month old lab for a run tonight with a view to shooting a rabbit or pigeon for him to retrieve, i dropped a pigeon about 10 yards into some rape which is almost fit, i didnt want to run a dog through the crop at this stage as it would be quite damaging, but i thought 10yds straight i and out would be fine he got about 5 yds in and got onto a rabbit which he chased about 100yds before he reappeared, when he got back all the fur and skin had been stripped of both sides of his face below his eyes and there was blood all over him, i never thought rape was this abrasive, has anyone else suffered with this. Hes ok now ive bathed his face in warm water a couple ot times and it looks a lot better now, but he wont be running through rape again in a hurry mikee
al4x
my GWP is a nightmare with rape and does the same once under the canopy you'd be amazed how much wildlife lives in there, mine tends to get onto foxes and once on one hunts hard and comes back minus all the hair under her eyes :yp: I really have to keep her out now as every time she'll clear off yet doesn't in any other cover
