mrgsm
Just a quick post about some Noisebreaker Custom Made Ear Defenders i have just ordered! i read so much in mags & on the internet about ear defenders so Yesterday i went to have the molds made of my ears, so i could have some Noisebreaker ear defenders made for me for shooting, the guy said it should be about a week before i get the finished product back from the factory! will keep any members interested updated on if they do the job they were made for!! The NOISEBREAKER® which carries BS 5108 and the CE Mark has been called, 'The world's finest Ear Defender against noise at work and recreation.' The company carries the standard ISO 9002. The fact that NOISEBREAKERS® are individually tailored has a number of advantages; namely they are comfortable and therefore achieve a high level of acceptance by the wearer, in contrast to the conventional disposable plugs and ear muffs. Also they allow the wearer to communicate easily, but at the same time afford excellent protection. The Emtec NOISEBREAKER® is a personally moulded and vented earplug. It is a silicone rubber moulding which is moulded to each individual concha bowl and ear canal. The plug incorporates a central drilled channel in which a filter is placed which allows pressure equalisation but prevents a finite impedance to the passage of audio frequency sounds. The acoustic filter attenuates all sounds going to the ear but attenuates more in the mid-band range (approximately 1kHZ-6kHZ). Because of the through channel in the "ear plug" a person is not completely isolated from his surroundings and conversations and warning signals may be heard. CE Mark attenuation data Freq. (Hz) 63 125 250 500 1k 2k 4k 8k Mean attenuation 13.9 16.1 19 22.7 25 32.2 41.1 36.
markm
I had the same ones in blue made up a few years ago, they are very comfortable to wear, do not fall out or rustle like foam ones and they do not get in the way like over the head defenders. Only downside is the white dust caps fall out and they are expensive. The company keep hold of your moulds incase you need any made up in the future. njc110381
Moulded plugs are great. You'll be well pleased with them. I'm just considering getting Emtec to make me a pair of those electronic jobbies, they sound amazing! I can wear my moulds all day and hardly know they're there. MJN
I have another brand of electronic ones (puretone), expensive but work very well and comfortable, and good service from the provider, the only downside is the local hearing aid sepcialist now has my name and keeps offering me hearing test and hearing aid products.
