ferreter
well theve finaly started cutting around my way ,so i took a run a round in the car looking at fields ,there was 3 guys in one field i could make them out through ,there net,now if i could see them ,in another field an this one wasnt even cut there was another guy hiding behing a dark green net ,now i know nets can be expensive ,but surely if your going to be spending money on a gun ,cartridges , decoys ,wirrlys an the rest o the kit,its not to much to get a couple o decent nets after all if the birds can see you ,the rest of your kit aint going to make much difference, personally i think the new light weight nets are not up to the job,if you can see birds through your net ,then rest assured the birds can see you.just my tuppence worth ,stuart
MerseaDavid
For the last 5 weeks that me and dad have been shooting we have not used a net, we have just stood up against the trees or hedge and shot some great bags. We have got many nets from the see through ones to the reall thick dark nets and they all work as long as you keep still until the bird is in range and you dont jump up to shoot it then the birds will come in. Cranfield
Almost any net will silhouette you, if you have light behind you. The ideal thing is a natural solid background, but this doesn't prevent you being silhouetted through the sides of the hide. I have seen hides built for one, that could easily hold four people, its much better to have a smaller hide with a reduced area of netting, this reduces the chances of silhouetting. Smaller low profile hides, wearing dark clothing, face nets and gloves, keeping still and shooting sitting down (or at least sitting down until you are ready to shoot and then standing up), all help.
