liamlumsden
i have had my fac for abit now but never getting a gun (money problems). i have a slot for a 22lr but wish to change it to a 17hmr (no gun to switch or sell )i have about 700/800 achers on 2 different farms 1 farm about 300 achers which is about 5 mins from my house which i wood love to shoot over. so my question is this i no i will have to get written permission again for the 17 but wood there be any chance that it may not be aloud coz its a more powerful round. any more info needed plz ask cheers liam
taffygun
Here in Gwent force area the HMR is preferred over the 22LR as there is much less chance of a ricochet. Also once they evaluate a piece of land, if its passed for 22LR use then its more than likely passed for rimfire in general which means it doesn't need re-evaluation or new signed permission to get the calibre granted. If you have the permission then a 1-4-1 from 22LR to .17HMR should be straightforward
al4x
the only other bit I'd add is to start with its acres but that aside how long have you had your ticket? by not buying a gun or using any ammo you aren't demonstrating the need for your FAC so if you've had it a year or so its probably best to buy a .22 and use it a bit before trying anything else

taffygun
Bit of a different situation there as you haven't had ticket for long and never filled a slot that you asked for. They are still treating you as a new shooter as you haven't shown much experience, on paper at least
