cdb
Aside from tea and chocolate hob nobs, are there any 'must know' tips for my SGC interview?
Frenchieboy
Quite simply - Relax, Be Honest and Be Yourself. Don't bother trying to give any bull sheet or putting on airs and graces as these guys have heard it all before, they are not going to try to catch you out with trick questions. Good Luck mate! MM
like has been said, just be yourself (unless you are a loon/Rambo type) and relax. Its not a job interview, and the chances of dropping a bollok is slim. And make sure you have filled the kettle ready.
andy33
All as above and also safety is a big aspect, always carry your gun in a sling whilst in public, in the boot when in the car, mostly common sense and relax he just wants to see that your normal. Dont worry,
cdb
Thanks chaps, all sound advice. When I spoke to the FEO on the phone to arrange the timing he sounded like a decent sort of chap. Will post tomorrow how it went. Cheers
cdb
You guys were absolutely right - a remarkably relaxed affair. We chatted about TV, movies, Iraq, Afghanistan, books; and a little bit about a shotgun licence application! To be fair, I am the most boring person in the world so there was nothing controversial that needed discussing. When leaving he said "see you in 5 years time" so I'll asume the interview went well. Will now be waiting for the postman...

danccooke
Need to go pick up a form for the wifey, she has decided that she really wants her own gun, and also thinks it would be useful for things like when i had to call my old man to go get more ammo for me, she could have gone. This is getting silly, My old man has had SGC FAC the works for ever, I have SGC, my brother wanted one but being useless and couldn't decide what he wanted for his Bday so i said i'd pay for his SGC, he now has one, other brother has now hinted that he wouldn't mind also. First brother has already muscled in on my permission now too, which i don't mind but a heads up would have been nice. They all have thier own cabinets I am guessing at my place unless I want a second cabinet all of my guns go on her license and any she buys go on mine too? Are the coppers normally fairly happy with a shared arrangment?

I can see no reason why they would object to shared cabinets but you might have to register your guns as shared on each others certificates. I could be wrong so speak to your FEO about it over the phone, he will advise you much better than I can. Good luck mate!
Andy H
There should be no problem with shared security with all guns on both certificates, When my other half applied for her sgc she only wanted a Beretta A 300 that I had already got for her ,so I bolted a 3 gun cabinet to the side of my 18 gun cabinet so she had her own security in place , When the certificate dropped through the door and she checked it the firearms department had also put down all 10 of mine on there as well.
