springer14
I've been shooting for about 3 yrs now,I have a 28 acre permission which isn't ideal due to livestock, but it got me my ticket. At the moment I have to rely on mates to get any shooting and i'm sure they get p****d of with me asking them all the time. I have been canvassing farmers /landowners in my area and have come to the conclusion that I should take up stamp collecting or try and gain some more permissions further afield, without standing on anybodys toes. I live in the bangor area and am willing to travel should the opportunity arise. I am fully insured and am a full BASC member, any help or suggestions gratefully accepted. GW80
Hi mate, it can be frustrating to say the least to get permission, especially were you are in north down loads of great shooting but all tied up! Have you thought about joining any of the wildfowling clubs in Newtownards, it's not all Just wildfowling they have access to other club's shoot all other Ireland for pigeon and wildfowl etc, plus it will give you the chance to meet a few guys and quite a few would only be too glad to take you shooting and things can kind of grow throw there, i lost a bit of my usual pigeon shooting this year up my way as they planted alot of maize instead of barley and wheat, but i got into a wee syndicate for game which all started from a contacts made in my wildfowling club!! All best and don't give up!!!!
springer14
cheers m8,joined n/ards wildfowlers earlier in the year, but due to illness haven't really got to know them, had a couple of clay shoots recently so i'm slowly but surely getting to know faces. I'm sure i'll get more shooting in but i'd still like to be independant and not have to keep annoying my mates and maybe invite them shooting for a change. thanks for the gee up m8 take it easy. ghostrider6630
try looking on the forestry service/ comission for northrn ireland i had 2500 acres threre shoting rights £450 for the year on a 5 year contract its done on bids but not the highest wins they want a plan of action on how you can do shooting and still keep the enviroment in play so do your numbers check what needs shot whts rare in the area etc its just a plan of action to keep the balance on shooting and the enviroment ie shoot foxes at a certain time of year but not to many as rabbits may be plentiful shoot to many rabbits then the fox starves shoot sick and lame deer first to protect the healthy i think you get the idea best of luck with it
