Gamekeeper
I want to fit a carry strap to an ordinary 22 air rifle (which does not have purpose-made fittings). Anyone suggest the cheapest and simplest strap and method of attachment?
jim_whitson
I've been planning the same thing myself. Plan one is to try and tie twine to it in two places, then attach a belt or something to those. Failing that, I might splash out and buy proper sling mounts... Evilv
:( Great minds think alike! Is your 'keeper of Scottish ancestry by any chance? You should see my improvised dressings when I cut myself! Try superglue on small cuts. Keeps the dirt out very well and it's quite tough. They sell some expensive version called liquid bandage or something, but a doctor friend of mine says they use ordinary superglue all the time in hospitals. After applying it to the cut, give it a moment and then run it under the tap, or spit on it if you're outside. That way, you won't stick yourself to something else. Gamekeeper
What's the score on "proper sling mounts"? What sort of money and how easy to fit? Has anyone on the list actually tried them and do they stay in place?

jim_whitson
Been there, done that. Superglue was used during Vietnam as a field dressing for wounds, and it works nicely. The only problem is that it's slightly toxic... But you're not meant to get it inside wounds anyway, only around them to hold 'em closed. But, the real secret to quick healing is a ******* sharp knife! Also, cuts from carbon steel heal quicker than stainless (true fact - surgeons don't use stainless scalpels). I've been wearing a home-made splint for the past few days, because I managed to cut my finger just on the bend, so when ever I move it it opens the cut up :< . Never fear; half a pencil and some duct tape will save the day! :(
stupidsalmon
Try these mate. They're the ones i used on my old springer. Work a treat. Swivels Get the ones in the bottom left picture if your rifles a break barrel (16mm). It shows the options for an under lever rifle also(14.5mm). At £8.95 not a bad price.
