Lloyd90
Dont make the space too big as the cosier it is the less body heat it takes off the dog to warm the area up Ensure lots of bedding and they should be fine If its really really cold give an extra blanket or bedding, or if your like my mother go "Oh its too cold out there for a dog, go let them in the hall tonight"
WGD
Also in Scotland, I don't heat the kennel - it's just a timber kennel box with a wind deflecting partition inside. In winter I dry the dog off before kennelling and make sure the bedding is dry - normally I only put a bed in the kennel at night so the dog has a chance to dry out completely in the kennel before getting a bed to sleep on. I also feed an extra meal in really cold weather, fed last thing and soaked in warm water.
