Topgunners Posted August 26, 2009 Report Share Posted August 26, 2009 After work last night I popped in to a farm to have an hour or so on the crows or pigeons that have been feeding in the seed barns. About 20 flew out as I approached, which is nothing like the usual hundred or more. The farmer came out and said he had not seen many at all of late but if I wanted to go up on the hill I might get a few flighting into the wood. I drove my van into the field and sat and watched for flight lines and decided to lay down on the grass about 10 yards down from the brow of the hill. I laid down on my side with only the 2ft thistles as cover, 2 boxes of cartridges and my shottie. No seat,netting or deeks. The birds were flying over my head and then out in front of me and upwards to the wood, way up on the top of the distant hill.. There were some very high shots but great practice for assessing different amounts of lead. Them rooks are cute as they come ; even that high up in the sky they would spot me and flare off if I moved just a fraction too early. I ended up with 19 rooks and 3 pigeons.
