mosa
Hello all i was just wondering rather than waiting for my bitch to put on weight to see if she is in pup if there is a time where i can get a scan to see if she is or not? ie how soon? It has been a week or so since her season day/date

apache
It depends on the type of ultrasound scanner your vet has but usually 28 days onwards (specialist small animal vets may do from 2-3 weeks). It is important to know if she is in pup as she needs feeding up and worming appropriately if pregnant!
mikee
i bred my lab a few years ago, the vet was a mate so he came and checked her over every week or two, he checked her 2 days before her due date and said he thought she might have 3-4 as she wasnt very fat and he couldnt feel many pups, the next day she had 10, 8 bitches and 2 dogs, so dont take too much notice of what you get told, delivering my girls pups was one of the best days i can remember, as they dropped me and my mum cleaned them up, cut the cords and weighed them, from memory they were all between 12-16oz, they all lived and i see several of them regularly, enjoy the whole thing, its great mikee
