Kit advice for a beginner

Hi

I'm about to part with my hard earned in order to buy my first decoys.

I've had a look on the net at the options available and whittled my choice down to a set of flocked shells on eezz wobblers or sillosock decoys.

I've read on here that people really rate the sillosocks but can they be used on their own or doo you need some conventional decoys as well.

I've got a floater lined up coutesy of hawkeye so it's just a set of deeks I need now but can really only afford one set so it's a case of one or the other, whichever will be most suitable???

Thanks in advance

first off you made a good move with the floater, there's your movement ( you need wind mind) shells or sillys? sillys need wind and are a good addition, shells FLOCKED can be used anytime even used them on the top of crop if I have had to, so go for flocked shells first, a couple of floater rods to hold real birds are also a cheap and effective way of adding to your pattern once you have some real birds, oh and a tube of cocktail sticks, to prop up the necks of real birds, real birds really do make the difference amongst your deeks.

Great,thanks for that info guys.

I was worried by the "windsock" description that sillosocks would only be of use in the wind.

I'll order the flocked shells and wobblers and a couple of cradles.

I've just read John Batleys pigeon shooting book so am aware of a few of the basics , I just need to get some kit and get out there practicing at finding and getting under flightlines :good:

ok the next bits are the expensive bits decent 4X4 that you can actually use, 2 or 3 magnets hundreds of sillys, and just about every gadget known to the pigeon world, all the major vendors do decent gear, but as usual its all about what works for you and learning to use it.

I'm ok on the 4x4 front but regarding kit I'm going to do my best to keep it old school and avoid anything battery powered :good:

Being a whore to the bling however I can feel the need for a benneli super black eagle or vinci coming on when funds allow!!!
