deputy dog
Hello all, simple enough question for you all to have a go at answering. Do you need to break the barrel in on .17hmr and how do you go about it. I'v read a few reviews on it on other forums. And most say that .17hmrs dont need to be broke in because they dont have the amount of fouling that bigger calibers have :yp: . Being new to FAC shooting, i would appreciate any feed back from .17hmr shooters on who does what and who doesn't do any thing. Thanks alot Gareth
Billy.
I would never say a rifle needs breaking in. However a 'barrel warmer' should always be fired before you are going to be doing any precision shooting. A .17hmr is a very messy round and will leave a lot of debris in the barrell. Most people swear by cleaning them every few shots, but you lose that microscopic layer that the previous round left, meaning you'll have to put a few rounds back through it to get back on zero. If you are going to clean it, make it no less than every 500 rounds.
Lez325
should shoot ok straight from the box- an Erik Brookes trigger kit helps make it a nicer rifle to shoot though Les
