Still not sure whether or not Windows 7 is a good fit for your workplace? Missed out on the RC download and wish you had something you could evaluate?

 

You're in luck. Microsoft has made a 90-day trial download of Windows 7 Enterprise available. You can download the ISO image now.

 

This is the RTM version, not the RC. What you're downloading is the same OS that will be available for purchase in a couple of months.

 

Both the 32 and 64-bit versions are available, and you don't have to be a member of TechNet, MSDN, the Partner Program, or have a Software Assurance agreement.

Basically if you want to try Windows 7 now it's out of beta there is a 90 day trial versions available.

 

I mainly posted it incase there were any other guys working in IT that need to perform testing and planning a roll out.

 

The ISO file you can download is an image of a DVD that can be used to create an installation DVD with most DVD burning software.

 

RTM = Release To manufacturing, this is the final version once it have completed alpha and beta (still in development) testing and is the first version of the operating system to be generally available for purchase.

 

RC = Release Candidate, this is normally the final version beta prior the beta program ending and the final changes made to form the RTM version.

 

Basically, if you would like to try Windows 7 and see what it's like you can download it and try it, this will only work for 90 days at which point you will have to do a complete re-install with the commercially available product and should not be used as a main computer.

 

I have been using Windoze 7 for several months without issue, it's far less resource intensive than Vista and very stable, well i haven't been able to break it yet.
