Rarerims
I currently have an MK38 Trap gun, which I use for everything, as it fits me well, However, its choked 3/4 and full, which although I shot reasonably well at sporting with it, I cant help but think that I may pick up a few extra clays with more open chokes, also for pigeon shooting the closer birds tend to be pretty well smoked :look: Ive been toying with the idea of either teague chokes, or a replacement pair of barrels. A good friend suggested that he throught each action and set of barrells was a matched pair, ie if I had another pair of barrells off of another Miroku, they wouldnt fit properly.. Has anyone ever had a replacement set of barrels? cost? I think the teagues are around £300 The gun currently is a 32" barrelled model, but I was thinking possibly get a multichoked set of 30" Is any of this feasible, or would I be better off chopping it in for a m/c gun when one comes available (mk38 trap with m/c seem to be fairly rare) Any ideas? mikee
your mate is absolutely right, browning/miroku guns are fitted together unlike beretta where you can interchange, you might be really lucky and get a set that fits. the teague choke option will be cheaper than a spare set of barrels which will be about 65% of the cost of a new gun plus the smith work to fit them, i looked into it a few years ago when my mk70 chambers got pitted mikee
Rarerims
Thanks for clearing that up! Came joint second in an open sporting clay shoot today, so thinking the chokes arnt really a problem! Might shoot with them tight this year and have them teagued for my birthday or something
chrisv
Sounds like you're doing ok with them tight anyway! Don't forget Teague also offer a choke regulating service which could open your chokes a bit without going for the multi-choke option. Can't find any prices on the website, but when they were on it, they seemed quite reasonable. Obviously, it's permanent, depends how much you shoot trap and how much you value very tight chokes for it. I'd carry on as you are for a while and see how you get on.
