anser2
I do not think there is a perfect setup for magnet position. It depends on the day , but to start with I usualy have the magnet within 20 yards of the hide ( often a lot closer )and between the hide and the decoys. So the pigeons pick up on the movement of the magnet and then switch their attention to the decoys as they get closer. The other week I had pigeons flighting up a field behind me where I could not shoot. I placed the magnet 40 yards off next to an open gateway and it drew the pigeons to my side of the hedge and into the decoys nicely.
Imperfection
Not perfect by any means, but i put the magnet about 10yds away from pattern and also try to keep it close to me in the hide.Pigeons will often realise they've been had when close to a rotary and jink away so having it near you means they should be within range.
