Highlander
Anyone got a view...two very similar fields of harvested peas (about 70 acres each, very similar country) First field smothered in pigeons flighting in for about a week. Feeding almost all day. Late afternoon a regular conveyor of birds. Shooting not putting them off. Second field a few birds in very scattered small flocks. Shooting poor. First field cut in dry weather and stayed dry, soil quite loose sandy type. Second field cut in wet weather and soil very clingy (20lb boots syndrome) also where pea husks piled they've rotted and stink. Could this be the reason? On both fields there are plenty of peas (in pods) left lying.
