You should see what 42g loads can do.

But it's just budget these days.

I went ferreting with a guy and he was amazed I bought 36g #4 and #2.

They certainly worked out further than I want to say really. They just straight flattened targets.

I switched to 32g 5s quite a long time ago now after hearing shot hit crows on a nice still day and they barely flinched. They're better but by no means a magic cure.

I may try 34g of 6 or even 7 next time I do a run of Reloading - oddly, I expect similar results except I'll likely start seeing "armoured" crows again

Larger shot will do the business but keeping a good pattern with it is key. Even on long crows size six or even size seven pellets to the head will kill it stone dead. Pattern density on vitals is what's needed.

Don't think there is a magic wand cart or shot size it's what you have confidence with.

well,

i originally did my subsonic series for moderated guns. after patterning them we persued them because they patterned better than any sport shell i have seen.

i then developed 42g subsonics. big shot and lots of it.
