dave killer
alright mate witch one actually works.Or do they all work in their own way. can you recomend any. Can you really beat the hand for getting them right in for shotgun shooting.
kip270
Depends on whether the fox has been educated in calling. For the hard to call with your hand, the home made one really gets them thinking. The green disc is like a wigeon call and again it can make them show a bit of interest if they have been lamped before. Some nights you get the one that sits and watches, try to put the sneak on them, and they have moved back so you are still the same distance apart!!! So out comes the pro screamer (which i practice with much to the annoyance to the other half) and they will start to come to investigate. By which time the .222 has turned out it's lights Best to have more than one call, because you never know when you might need it for that wily one (or am i just a horder)
dave killer
cheers bud they look handy coz you now those nights easpecially in winter when you just can't squeak properly coz your lips are dry or your to cold.they could be what i'm looking for. were did you get your fine array of calls to witch is the closest to A HAIR or rabbit. And witch is the loudest. cheers dav
kip270
Dav, The long green one is a faulhaber hare in distress call, purchased from a game fair. The orange pro screamer is by far the loudest takes some getting used to, but i can produce a wide range of sound with it :pheasent, chicken, rabbit, hare and Turkey!!(this is what they are used for in the states) The home made call is loud as well, and you can vary the pitch if you squeeze it with your teeth. The green disc can be loud if you cup your hands around it. Sometimes the loud call spooks the fox, so i vary how i call, remember nature is a weird and wonderful thing, so practice with different calls, the more you can use the better, you just never know when you will need it. Hope this helps. Oh yes, have a look through any of the shooting mags and you will see them advertised, i will try to get some names for you though mate Good luck
deadeye ive
The orange pro screamer is by far the loudest takes some getting used to, but i can produce a wide range of sound with it :pheasent, chicken, rabbit, hare and Turkey Kip Yes thats the one (The orange one second from the right)................We discussed this in a earlier topic...........For the benefit of others they are made by Primos..... Basically they are 4 reeds that are shaped to fit the roof of your mouth which are then pushed against with the top of your tongue and then air is forced past .Working it against your top set of teeth is required to get it right. Remember the sound a squealing rabbit makes .yep we've all been there with bad shots..Alas ...............Well this call with plenty of practice simulates the sound perfectly . william
Iv,e just bought the one that goes in the roof of your mouth it was a bas~~~~ to get used too but I find it most effective. now iv,e got to shoot more than I miss. I like to use the squeeker out of a squeeky dogs toy for closer ranges or especially on younger foxes.
