  1. Thanks mate. Will check this one out too.
  2. Might sound odd but I want to raise funds for a semi-auto for shooting pigeons. I'm looking out for a reasonably priced Beretta Urika m/c camo with 28" barrels or sourcing a cheaper Baikal MP-153. These have had excellent reviews in a recent Italian gun mag. Test cycled 50,000 rounds through with intermittent water immersions and only problem was a spring snapped which was due to it not being refitted properly after cleaning. Apparently, it can cycle down to 24g loads with no problems. I want something I can shoot in really bad conditions with (pigeons/geese/duck etc.) and not have to worry about as much. I've been out with a 12b sbs Army & Navy sidelock ejector (my pride and joy and part of a matched pair) and fretted over it all day! Great gun but for posing and drives only.
  3. Sounds ok as long as you don't go with Marco and Ochre - they're naturist pigeon shooters
  4. Thanks Plinker - that's a very useful bit of info to know about.
  5. OK. Counting is not my strong suit but the 16 bore comes with approx. 320 6s which include a small number of 7s. An interesting observation Sam - I'm not sure which model of AYA 16b BLNE it is, just assumed it would be a Yeoman. It's advertised on www.guntrader.co.uk for £275 which includes the cartridges. As for defects, it has small sections of varnish missing from the stock and has had the stock butt profiled so that it is straighter as opposed to concave. This was done so that my wife could use it and the work was carried out by Graham Wainwright's stock smith in Northamptonshire. The barrels, foregrip and action have no defects that I am aware of. Obviously, if someone wishes to have further pics or would like to come and check it out you would be more than welcome. It is for sale because my wife no longer shares my passion for shooting [not sure she ever did in fact!] Any other questions, please ask away.
  6. I have a lovely little AYA Yeoman 16 bore BLNE for sale with loads of cartridges. Anyone interested?
  7. I bought one instead of a magnet because my mate usually brings his so in combination they should be fab. I've used mine maybe 3 times recently and whilst I haven't seen it obviously pulling them in, the birds that have committed to the pattern have actually landed next to it. I use a random timer though which costs a bit extra. I have seen birds spooked by magnets before. Please remember that the times I have used my flapper recently have not been days when there were many birds in the neighbourhood. I've found bouncers to be excellent and these are much cheaper.
  8. Advice needed - if you had to make a choice between a secondhand Beretta AL391 Ulrika or an Extrema for pigeon shooting which would you choose? Thanks.
  9. I live in Northamptonshire. I'm really looking for an AL391 Ulrika in camo with 28" barrel and multichokes. Let me know if you hear of one that's available. Thanks big guy.
  10. Thanks Dave - will wait for the quotes before I embark on butchery; I'm not sure my woodwork skills are quite up to that but who knows, maybe I'll surprise myself!
  11. Here goes with the pics - never tried this before  Slightly embarrassed for my disabled friend! She's been a good work horse in the past.
  12. That's really helpful guys. I have contacted a couple of gunsmiths by email but fear a repair or replacement will be very expensive.
  13. Henry - whilst you may have had bad experiences with Italians, there is one Italian that uses this site and he's a top bloke and safe too. I think the advice left by Cranners is excellent - it's so easy to bite the hand that feeds
  14. Hi folks. I was decoying last week with my Webley & Scott side by side and just I raised the gun for my first bird the foregrip split and fell off! I don't know what I was more angry about - my gun disintegrating or being unable to shoot a decent pigeon. I would really appreciate your advice on how to fix this problem so that it is safe and attractive. I am thinking of selling the gun because I have too many but it would be nice to sell it complete  Thanks in advance for your help!
  15. Interested in acquiring a Beretta 391 Semi-Auto with 28" barrels and choke options. Please pm me if you are considering selling yours or respond to my post. Thanks.
  16. My surplus guns are now available for sale -perhaps you might find something of interest. Webley & Scott 12 bore side-by-side BLNE with 28" barrels and 15 1/2 inch stock with a split foregrip which needs glueing. AYA 16 bore side-by-side BLNE with 28" barrels and 14 7/8 inch stock with stock plate professionally shaped for a lady (straight). Barrels in excellent condition; stock has very small patches of varnish missing and is very clean. Comes with masses of ammunition. BRNO 2-E-H .22 rf long rifle with 10-shot magazine, leather sling and brand new Hawke Nite-Eye 3-9x50IR scope. This rifle has been used 3 or 4 times since new. Accepts screw-on Parker-Hale sound moderator. If interested, pm me for images. Sensible offers only please. I live in Northamptonshire if you are wondering about travel issues.
  17. Mmm... I've used one of those in the past. Loved it. A well-balanced, hard hitting shotgun - shame I can't take it off your hands. You know what they say - new houses mean new sacrifices
  18. Whilst I'm waiting for the birds I will be mostly looking at the horizon and thinking of something silly to say to my compadre. What about you?
  19. Your LION sounds good Marco ... Ever shot any flying rabbits with it?
  20. Anyone know if you can order cartridges online and have them delivered? I was thinking of getting some Eley HB Pigeon. Would appreciate advice on prices and alternative cartridges too - thanks in advance.
  21. 31 BASC & NPPC Member with gundog Shotgun, rifle & air rifle Access to rabbit shooting (me only at present) Pigeon shooting via NPPC permissions Looking for people to shoot pigeons and rabbits with at weekends in Northamptonshire area or reasonably close. Hope that gives you a little more info.
  22. Have seen a multi-floater system on the Pinewood site but seems very expensive with flocked deaks. I have maybe 20 shells (10 of which are flocked) and want to add to my pattern with some floaters - what would you recommend?
  23. I've been checking out floaters and magnets and can only really afford one system. Tempted by the floater system as birds less likely to get used to it. What do you think?
  24. Come on boys and girls - there must be some brave souls up for some weekend decoying!! It's a lonely man that sits in a field on his own watching a spinner going round... Northampton is where all the finest pigeons hang out.
