  1. What a haul lads! Is this an exceptional bag for where you shoot?
  2. You seem very well informed. I defer to your greater wisdom!

    Beer

Does it matter what type of sugar you use to prime the beer when you transfer it from the fermenting bin? Thanks for the replies boys. One must take one's beer seriously!

    Beer

I've just started on a new project - home brew real ale. Is this a dark and dangerous path to take? Is home brewer synonymous with alcoholic? Will it be utterly disgusting? Will I be very disappointed after lovingly looking after my first batch? Enough silliness, what kits do you rate fellas? Myself, I like it dark brown. 1st attempt, which is beginning to froth, is Woodforde's Wherry.
  5. I knew it wouldn't be long before one of our crowd saw a pig fly.
  6. I'm no expect on our four-legged friends. It was nice to see 'em scampering about whatever they were. It could have been a large family of roe deer pretending to be muntjac - watch out for this new species of spooks.
  7. Nice treble wabbit. Will you be using it on bunnies? Might burgerise them ...
  8. As an upstanding member of the community I love my beer and would like to know how to brew some amber nectar myself. Any fool proof methods you know of would be much appreciated.
  9. I like Jo's outfit. Do you know where she got it cos I'm thinking of getting a number like that for when I go shooting with Marco.
  10. I've heard of the skull cracking technique too - it sounds utterly revolting. Let me know how you get on and I'll consider it!
  11. I'm not sure I'm man enough to skin the little fellers alive. My good wife Henrietta would be appalled! I've been praticisng with my priest everyday in the confession box and he says I'm getting the hang of it. Sometimes he thinks it should be done harder, sometimes softer. Administering the last rites really is quite a complex job.
  12. Snakebite... I have to agree with you there. Ray's skils really do allow you to grow in proportion with your knowledge. Perhaps there should be warnings on his courses to this effect?
  13. I've done a Ray Mears weekend (with Ray) and the week long 'Fundamental' course (without Ray). His instructors are excellent and you aren't just plonked in a wood and left to your own devices. Each day has specific seminars that you need to attend, demonstrations are provided and all students are required to practise the skills they are taught. I loved both experiences whether Ray was there or not. It is expensive but the ratio of instructors to clients is very high which means you get quite a bit of individual attention. At the end of the week you are assessed to see how much progress you have made and whether you have reached the required proficiency to go on to more advanced courses. The last course I did was run by Woody (Andy Wood) an extremely well respected ex-special forces type but you'd never know. He was a sweety. In fact, he's just set up a company himself and would be an excellent place to sound out for advice/prices/courses offered, etc. His company is called 'Bushcraft Expeditions'. The website below has a full list of all the schools that offer this type of course, if you really want to do your homework! http://www.bushcraftuk.com/content/article...&showarticle=37 I can highly recommend these courses - lots of fun and it's something totally different. It's quite relaxing to slow down and live in an environment we usually just pass through briefly.
  14. You must have a colossal amount of land to sustain that rate of incoming birds, Rob??? Are you the Pied Piper of Staffordshire?
  15. Wabbitbosher and I spent a day decoying pigeon in Northamptonshire. Excellent spot with loads of options. Had a good day - ended up with about 12 birds. Added bonus was we saw a large family of muntjac deer close up. Thanks - I hope to return the favour shortly!
  16. What's the best time to send letters out?
  17. Just ordered a priest. Thanks for your help.
  18. Spent 5 days in Verbier in Switzerland - which was amazingly beautiful. In October, Marco and I are off to Italy to shoot boar in the mountains. Can't wait. I think boar with knives might be too much for me... have you seen a boar?!! They're kinda big, tusky and can weigh up to 400 lbs. I'll take a shotgun/rifle over a knife any day
  19. Nice one Matt. Those days are just magic.
  20. I am thinking of selling a shotgun to a guy in the US of A. Do any of you know what is involved and which carriers to approach for carriage quotations? Many thanks.
  21. I hate it when I'm snubbed by a lover. When I got your reply it just made me stand up straight, put one hand on my hip and the other out like a pointer. I had a little pout too followed by a stiff campari and soda
  22. You can PM me, Fisherman Mike, if you'd like to. Maybe we could have a drink sometime?
  23. I get about 180 shots from a charge now it's been regulated. It cost about £200 to have the reg work done by an expert in Cambridge. The extra shot volume is nice but not the prime factor for me - it's knowing that you don't need to compensate for any kind of power curve within that volume. I was quite flush when I bought it and had it regulated. The AAS410 is a great gun without it - if you've got it do it; if you haven't you're still going to have a great time with a great gun. Not sure if that answers the question or not!
  24. I've got a regulated S410 classic with a walnut stock - it's a beaut and very accurate when you point it in the right direction I use mine for hunting and have a Hawke Varminter II scope which I am also very pleased with. Again, I like the mildots but couldn't tell you which dots are better/worse - I don't really care as long as I hit what I aim at! I've got a bipod attached to mine which makes life in the field much simpler. You will enjoy it if you get one, I use mine nearly every day.
  25. All 12g cartridges sold. Loose 16g still available at £18 for 300, if anyone's interested. Thanks for the PMs guys.
