  1. I'll go with the above,... I have a QB78 .177, & just finished tweaking it up to 10.8 ft/lbs,.... and she is pellet on pellet at 20 yards with AA Fields (4.52) Pretty good with RWS Superdomes and Hobby as well,... but AA Fields are the best.... Good luck & Good shooting, Fred

Hiya!! I have had some (limited) success with plain, white toothpaste, and a soft cloth,..... but visibility is all on a bike, as you know,.... get a new one,.... {And look after it!!!! } You know it makes sense........... If you REALLY must, Google 'Visor scratch repair'....... Safe riding, Cheers, Fred
  3. I agree..... I think to allow two 12 year old boys to play 'cowboys & indians' with an air rifle isn't a tragic accident......its crazy!!!! surely the owner of the rifle is the one to share big part of the blame.... And if the owner of the rifle says ' I just didn't think............', well, there have been plenty of incidents like this to make us ALL think...... If you own an air weapon, its YOUR responsibility to ensure it is locked away safe,.. and people who use it are correctly supervised,.....these simple steps would surely reduce these incidents to virtually nil..... With the greatest sympathy to the boys family,... one can only hope this incident makes people secure their air weapons... or if they dont use them anymore, dispose of them out of harms way........ there are so many airguns out there now, no licencing system could stop this happening again... I hope this is the last time I read one of these threads,.... RIP, and condolences again to the boys family...., Comp
  4. Yep, thats a tapeworm sac,.... usually located on a leg, or in the abdomen,.... the tapeworms dont affect humans,.... their next host is canine, though,.... usually foxes of course,.. but your dog will also be at risk,...... wont hurt you even if you have eaten some by error,..... {Mind you, mixy contaminated rabbit wont do you any harm, either,... but the thought aint nice, is it?? LOL!} Think you are more at risk from Swine Flu....... Cheers, Fred
  5. Hiya!! I've found RWS Hobby, and Superdomes to be good up to 30 yards or so in my HW100S,... but AA Fields (4.52) are the poodles kahunas further out than that! Cheers, Fred
  6. Wot the chappie from Chesterfield said!!!! I suspect a 555 timer with variable PWM, (pulse width mod, as he said...) feeding a MOSFET, should do what you want,... run cool, and go easy on the current drain!!! + very little required in the way of a heatsink, at a guess!!! (Damn!!! now, I am curious,... and I WAS going shooting this weekend!!!! Cheers, Fred
  7. Yep, I will go with a couple of the above,........ HW100!!!! Tad heavy,... but one heck of a gun!!!!!!!!! Cant think of anything I would swap mine for,.......... 'cept, maybe Sam Fox!!

    FPS

.... Think you will find it is the speed the pellet is chrono'd at,... usually as it exits the barrel........ or shortly after,.. depending on the chrono used.... Cheers, Fred
  9. OK,... trying to post pics of my set-up....... and Well, if they are there, (Computer dodo... ) you should see a Clarke monocular mounted at the back, and on a front scope rail, an Infra Red torch as illuminator, (Ultrafire, with 3W IR led assembly, £4.99 on FleaBay!!) with a Beamshot target laser clamped to it. The illuminator makes one heck of a difference,.. and the laser spot is a bit too bright, really for the NV mono. I have fitted a sandwich of filtering material to the front, and this tones it down a touch. The mono had a 'press and hold on' type power switch, I have added a small slide switch to it, so I can have it on or off, handsfree. Snags?? well the laser is visible red light, I am looking for an infra red one, to make the setup totally 'steath...' (Im told the ones in CD burners are worth playing with, and are true IR....) and the mono is only 1x magnification, so only good for 20 yards, or so,.... but I am playing with some lenses from a scrap camcorder..... The laser is clamped to the torch with a Bisley type clamp,.. I found the single fixing screw didn't really hold it stable enough for me, so re-drilled, and tapped it to take 2 M6 bolts, now a lot firmer.. Will keep you informed of any major changes, hope the above is useful,.. any questions, please post, or PM me, Fred
  10. Yep, have a look at this recent thread on the Aldi monocular,...... http://www.airgunbbs.com/forums/showthread...;highlight=aldi ( & I will post pics of my setup tomorrow, guys ) Cheers, Fred
  11. Yes, you can,..... In fact that is how the Cobra Merlin system works,... the monocular is fastened to the back of your scope with a DSA, (Daylight Scope Adaptor,... usually just a plastic tube with a couple of hosetype clamps, to hold it all in line....) and away you go.. Think you need an adjustable parallax scope to get the thing lined up,.. I cheated, I mounted a Clarke CNV150 Mono on a 1" scope rail, and a Ultrafire IR torch, and a Beamshot laser for targeting on the front rail,.... OK up to 20 yards,.... would need some better optics for any further range,... but the torch and Clarke cost me £60 new on Fleabay, so thuoght it was worth a punt,.... Soon as I suss out posting pics, will put one up,.. a piccy IS worth a thousand words!!! Cheers, Fred
  12. Just one tip........ check when (if!) you place an order about delivery.......I placed an order with one of the above firms for 3 tins of pellets,....... (No names, but they were in Blackpool!!) anyway, turns out, the courier tried to deliver at my address, but I was at work,..... and had hell of a job to get them to deliver to alternate address,... they would not leave with a neighbour, wouldn't deliver to me at work unless I faxed them a business letterhead, the couriers didnt work Saturdays,... their office wasn't open when I wasn't at work..they would not leave in an unlocked porch, even though I said I would take full responsibility...... AAGGGHH!!! Tried to ring them, they dont have an answerphone when the shop is shut,... and no e-mail address,.. I could understand if it was a few hundred quids worth of gear,.. and someone might say 'we never got it, mate.....' but it was 3 tins of pellets, fer Christs sake..... I was in the market for £500 or so's worth of Night Vision kit as well, sorry, they had the best deal, but they didn't get my order!! I now order (by the sleeve,) pellets, through my local gun shop, dont get the best deal, but do get the pellets!!!! Cheers, Fred
