  1. I've always liked Berretas, between me and my son we've had a few over the years. I currently don't have one but he still has his 687 20 bore. It's an early one with the solid silver pigeon on the top lever. So, I'm looking around for another O/U and I'm in the same position as I always am, with 4 choices. New(ish) Berreta Old(ish) Berreta Browning Miroku Now, just sticking with Berretas for a moment, in my head these are 4 choices and not 3 choices because I've had it drummed into me that old and new Berretas are so different in terms of "quality" that they may as well come from different factories. 1, starting with the silver pigeon they did a sort of nickel plated receiver and I've seen these peel on a number of guns. Apart from it looking poor cosmetically I think it's a really bad idea from an engineering point of view to have plated mating surfaces which momentarily sustain such high pressure at the corners during gun assembly. 2, You also have the swirly blue paint pretending to be colour case hardening which lasts as long as my daughters nail varnish before chipping off. 3, I did hear that when they "value engineered" the barrels they became heavier and thicker, not sure if this is true. So what is Really true about quality over the years?? do any members have any insights/insider information?
  2. So am I gordon just look at a properly comparable vehicle on autotrader, you're talking £4k-£5k+ If anyone is interested from further afield I'll happily meet them half way but that's to buy it not just to kick tyres.
  3. Come on guys this must be a bargain for someone I'd also take a left handed beretta or browning in p-ex if it's the right gun
  4. Yes it is!! Frankly I think the Trade in offer I've had is derisory but I need to consolidate down to one car so I'd rather let one of the lads on here have it for that price than let a dealer make a hefty profit out of me.
  5. Ive been advertising this at £3,500 but it really must go and I've been offered £2650 px so if any members are interested at this fixed price please pm me Now MOT'd till end may 2017 More details in original add here http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/topic/335501-1999-discovery-td5-5-seater-in-outstanding-condition-having-done-only-85k/ I've been asked if the car is scratched, no! the vertical lined are rain drops caught by my camera!
  6. Guys I've just listed on ebay at £2950 Doing a search on ebay there are 30 manual TD5s with less than 100k on the clock and mine is the second cheapest
  7. What a completely unhelpful(and untrue)comment! with scopes like everything else in this world goods will perform better or worse than expected at their relative price point price point and the internet is flooded with comparisons of "this vs that" etc
  8. Hi guys, quick update, it now has a fresh MOT and as it was an early MOT it is tested to 29/5/17. It did pick up an advisory for corrosion on the offside rear chassis leg next to the tank and although it's only an advisory I've booked it in to get this taken care of next Tuesday.
  9. Would also consider a trade with a small economical diesel estate big enough for two pointers!
  10. I bought this discovery in Easter 2015 as a long term car but for reasons I won’t bore you with we are going down to one economical family runabout so here it is up for sale. 1999 Discovery TD5 5 seater in outstanding condition having done only 85k. It has been professionally converted from air bags to rear springs and freshly serviced with synthetic oil and all new filters when I bought it. It also comes with a good kenwood CD/Radio If you know the discovery 2s you’ll also know that most look nice and shiny on top but it’s what lurks underneath that sorts the wheat from the chaff. It had been regularly waxoyled and I also waxoyled it last summer. This is a good one, that’s why I bought it! It has done just over 1500 miles on 4 new tyres and the spare also has at least 7mm on it. I’ve completely removed refurbished and properly resealed the sunroofs, proper operation and no leaks. I’ve also recently had fitted; New genuine LR “i n tank” fuel pump Complete new steel and rubber power steering pipe kit New front wheelbearing and speed sensor to cure a “three amigos” issue New steering knuckle joints and a complete drag link kit. The steering is now as tight as a nuns thingy and there is absolutely no wander. I have receipts for all work done. I’m keeping the dog box but it will come with it's mint modesty panel. It’s MOTd until the end of May but I’ll happily have it MOTd for the cost of the MOT at £45 if the buyer wishes. Offers close to £3495
  11. It's a three shot you can see the proof house stamps in the picture I think
  12. Extra info as i've just had an enquiry, the LOP is 15" to front trigger
  13. Would also consider a trade for an earlier 687 (with the silver pigeon on the top lever)
