  1. My long serving boots have finally given up the ghost and I'm looking for a pair to replace them. Same old story, I'd like a quality pair but my budget won't stretch to a new pair. If you have a pair that are too big/small/tight for you please drop me a line with a price. I can collect around the North East or posting is OK for further afield.
  2. Is this a quote from back when certain Cleveland police officers may have had a vested interest as they were then reselling them out the back door? I don't think it's accurate nowadays, it's quite acceptable for an RFD to take in a gun, "bring it in to the system" and resell it.
  3. Napier gun oil is around £163 a gallon (based on the 125ml size at £4.59) I assume that Napier is a reputable company and not ripping us off (like a bunch of wild west snake oil salesmen) and therefore Napier gun oil must have such magical powers that we shouldn't use anything else! Or are they just using the same marketing tactics that make-up companies use when selling their little bottles of million dollar moisturiser to vein gullible women (and men for that matter).
  4. Cheapest way is 400-1200 wet and dry wrapped around a piece of 1"x1/2" latt. hold the knife in a vice then use the latt like a file then follow up with chrome polish applied directly to the wood. If you want to invest more and get into the whole sharpening thing then lansky is great but costs 4 times more than your current knife!
  5. Ferret Finder Mk1 Box/collar, Swap For A Mk3 Box/collar I know the debate rages on about which is best. I've always used mk1 gear and I've never even seen a mk3 used in the field but recently I thought I'd give one a go so I have a mk1 box and collar that I could swap for a mk3 box and collar. All in good working condition and the collar has new leather. Please PM me if this is of interest to you. Cheers
  6. Hi thanks for your interest but I'm looking for more economy and the lower tax of a diesel. I get 42-44 on a run out of the xtrail so I wouldn't be gaining anything with a 3 series petrol tourer
  7. This is not true, you do not need to list separate shotgun barrels on your license unless a barrel is specifically for a section 5 gun and you do not have an identical section 2 gun in your possession. Furthermore, you do not need to keep them in your cabinet and you do not need to send them RFD to RFD. this has been discussed many times on PW.
  8. I just love that beretta now make their barrels out of steelium!! set your phasers on to stun!
  9. Silver Nissan Xtrail diesel columbia 2006 sell or swap/trade for smaller car We've had this for just over two years, we got it at 37k and it has 60k now. It has full dealer service history and just had major service 200 miles ago including both rear wheel bearings changed. It has satnav, large glass roof and cloth seats. It doesn't have a tow bar and has never towed anything. It has been parked in a field on shoot days and been up the odd forest road but it has never been "off-roaded" and is in excellent all round condition. I'm looking for £6750 or I'd trade for a more economical small/medium diesel family estate (or a hatch if I can get a dog box in it) as we are doing more miles now and I just don't need the 4x4 capability. I'll get some pics up tomorrow. In terms of trade value I could go up or down a couple of grand either way depending on what you have.
  10. Thanks for the advice guys, I think in the first instance I'll keep my eyes open for a leftie browning of beretta and then if nowt comes up in a couple of weeks i'll go back to looking for a miroku to bend if I find a trustworthy and knowledgable local gunsmith.
  11. Having been a beretta man for years I was quite taken with a pals Miroku 20g I had a go at last weekend so I thought I'd have a hunt around for one. Unfortunately used lefties they are a bit thin on the ground so I was wondering how feasible it is to alter the cast from a right hander to left hander on this model. I know this is done on SxS with a nice thin straight hand but I assume a pistol grip and bolted stock is more difficult? Any thoughts guys
  12. remington 1100 extension tube wanted Just looking for a short one (oo-er missus!) Please pm if you have one
  13. so is a lightweight 12 really the best of both? I know 2 people with ally receiver brownings and the dovetail plate has worked loose on both of them, I've also seen an ally Beretta where the receiver had "picked up" and scored badly as ally can do, is there a good one out there.
  14. Hi Guys, I'm still looking and I've had a few offers, but for "as new" guns. Just to clarify I want this as a project gun to fit a straight hand stock to match the 687 my son has. I'm not looking for high priced mint example, my budget is around £600/£700. Cheers Brian
  15. I know the debate has raged for years but what do you guys currently think. For an identical load (say 28g) travelling at the same speed (say 1400 fps) surely there should be no difference in the killing power or range whether it comes out of a 12 or 20 gauge pipe! The only perceived difference being that the 20 bore is easier to carry all day but harder on you when you pull the trigger! Therefore the view that a 20g isnt as effective is myth?? The only other variable is choke. I just missed out on a 20bore that was choked at cyl & improved and I've heard that because 20 bores pattern tighter this was the equivalent of 1/4 & 1/2 in a 12 bore? (in diameter on a pattern plate) Opinions please
  16. I did, I missed it by 10 minutes, they were actually processing the buyers credit card when I rang!! Still on the look out
  17. 20g beretta wanted Hi please pm my if you have one, wood condition unimportant. older style 686/687 preferred
  18. that's not a No3 mate, it looks like a yeoman with a matador forend
  19. look for a black walnut "bowl turning" block on ebay it should be enough to get you two pieces

  21. Now sorted by Flazz and I must give him a plug, great guy (RFD) to deal with thanks again.
