  1. Wow, this thread's still getting replies

Since this was put up, the lyalvales have been put to good use, mostly for rabbits but also the odd duck and pigeon, and one unlucky pheasant that was walked up

In short, they work great, plenty of killing power, and without being too hard on the wallet. I've bought more, and I will again :good:

  2. If you can hold off a while, there's a 3.5" version coming soon. And you can guarantee that winchester won't let the quality issues plague the production run like the first time.

Agreed, they're not made in 'merica like the 500 or 870 or Novas, but my browning has made in portugal stamped on it

  3. It'll be much cheaper to fly, I'm a student in stafford, so I fly to and fro every few months. From Birmingham it usually costs about 40 quid each way on BMI baby to Belfast City airport. And at the airport, you're only a couple of miles from the city center.

The boats a scam, only useful if absolutely must bring the car

    :good:

  4. I toyed with the idea of an m2, but eventually settled on the maxus, don't regret it for one minute. Difference is, I was upgrading from an old lanber that was on it's last legs. If you want the option of 3.5" shells, then go for it. How much wildfowling do you do?

  5. I love mine, tough as a brick. It's been dropped from head height onto the workshop floor more than once, with no visible damage. I can attest that it is waterproof, frequently dropping it into water, mainly just to watch peoples faces

It can have some software issues, until the 2.2 update was released, mine refused to play ring tones, but it's ok now. When my contract runs out in 6 months, I'll probably get the defy+, basically the same phone, but with a faster processor and better battery.

The contract you've been offered is pants though, I'm paying £13.50 for 300 minutes, 300 texts, and unlimited internet on t-mobile, through phones 4 u.

  6. It's not a governmental thing, it's due to the restrictions imposed upon steel shot by the CIP. The yanks use the SAAMI system, which sets limits on the maximum average chamber pressure for firearms. For shotguns that is 115'000 PSI for chamber lengths up to 3" and 140'000 PSI for 3.5" chambers. With SAAMI there is no limit on velocity or shot size. With CIP regulations, shot size, maximum velocity and maximum chamber pressure are set limits.

Shot size limit= 3.25mm standard, no limit high performance

Velocity limit= 1310 fps standard, 1410 fps high performance

    Max pellet energy= 12N standard, 15N HP 70mm chamber, 17.5N HP 73mm+ chamber

And that's why we can't have nice things

    Read List:

    CIP specification

    SAAMI specification

  7. I've heard of this happening with some (older ones I think). Your issue lies with browning, not the dealer. Go straight to source for a warranty claim to avoid the time delay through the dealer.

    Best of luck :good:

  8. I fire my last round at the course and break the gun (re-cocks the hammers) walk back to the car and put it away in it's case. I don't re attach the for end at all even in the cabinet as gun oil may run down the barrels and onto the fore end. I'm sure this wouldn't happen but like you already know, I must have ocd lol!

I use snap caps because I was given them as a present when I first got my gun from my girlfriend. Whether they do anything or not is debatable but I have them so may as well use them :/. And when I remove the snap caps the hammers can't re-cock as there is no for end attached. I can imagine what you are thinking, “all of this isn’t necessary” but it makes me happy lol.

Not if gravity has anything to do with it!!

  9. Quite coincidental that this thread should come up today. Just changed the wheel on a neighbor's land cruiser.

We bent a spider and the wrench that was provided trying to undo loosen the nuts, in the end it took a 2m scaffold pole, a beefy spider and a heavy hand to crack them

What blithering idiot did them up (with an impact air gun no doubt) deserves to be slapped!!

By the way, it took 2 blocks and another bottle jack to lift the ****** thing. If you own one, get yourself some decent kit!

  10. As above, stick with 70mm as per the manual. You're putting carts through the gun that are stated as not compatible and talking about sending it back, that'll just be embarrassing. Although Eley Firsts for example (at 67mm) are fine through mine. 100% failure on 65mm carts, 100% success on 67mm, 70mm, 76mm & 89mm and at 24grm and upwards.

And as for the front sight/bead, i got ****** off with those light pipes bending and failing out as you describe, i replaced it with screw in bead from eBay (if you're interested it's a 3mm thread).

    Super glue

  11. Firstly, forget maglite, they're decades behind in the torch industry. Secondly, You'll not get anything with over 400 lumens for under £50, you'll struggle to get that amount of output for double that.

Where exactly did you arrive at the 400 lumen figure from? Because being the owner of a few high output LED torches, I can tell you that you need nowhere near that.

The fenix LD20 is a good purchase, about 40 quid if you shop around. 180 lumens, which compares to dipped car headlight. If you don't mind forking out for cr123 batteries, the PD30 will get you 265 lumens for slightly more

Anything over 300 lumens in a beam thrower will be not far off main beam performance, so bear that in mind.

In terms of range, my ld20 with standard alkalines will throw a usable beam 50m, about 20m wide. My TK15 will throw 150m, about 10m wide

How far away does your dog get??

*edit, You can always get rechargeable batteries, that way you can carry spares
