Not one of the above, but Ive recently bought some of the Swatcom Novo SC20E electronic in-ear plugs. I'm very happy with them for situations where muffs get in the way.

Interesting legal question if anyone can help? I have dual nationality, UK and Austria. I'm resident in the UK and have lived here my whole life, and also hold a UK SGC. In Austria, purchase of a normal, for example, O/U shotgun is essentially unrestricted - it's your right, no license required, just a 3 day wait for a criminal record check and that's it. If I wanted to buy a shotgun in Austria as an Austrian citizen, and wanted to bring it back to the UK, how would I enter this in my UK SGC? Would it just be a case of entering it on my certificate myself and also notify the UK police? Not sure anything equivalent to the way a UK RFD enters it on your SGC exists in Austria.
Thanks!
I've re-entered the UK (ferry) with a friend who had firearms purchased in Belgium. He needed paperwork to move from the dealers premises in Belgium to the port of embarkation. In Belgium he had the Belgian dealer enter the items onto his UK FAC. That way he did not need to declare at UK customs, unless asked, and simply advised his local Firearms department of the acquisitions when he got home, just as he would have done with a UK purchase. I know some will say get the Border Force to do it. My experience is that they wouldn't know what to do and would need much higher authority before putting pen to paper.
Could you go to the dealer in Austria and get them to enter it onto your SGC?
As others have wisely said, print off and have with you any correspondence with the police etc.

Would the Lidl unit take an O/U action
I have a very similar one which came from Lidl a few years back. OK..ish for small components. Not big enough for most action bodies.

Amazing info guys, much appreciated. Would it get me in any trouble having them in my small collection. I know these police/military items can be a bit grey sometimes in the eyes of the law
As tight choke says, it's a fired cartridge case. Not an issue. Loaded rounds (other than blank) are S1.

This is a 9mm Parabellum equivalent 'Force on force' fired cartridge case. Different examples are produced by a variety of companies.
The most famous is probably, the 'simunition' brand.
ATK / Speer / Federal make a similar round.
Alternatively, you could wave the flag and go the UTM (Ultimate Training Munitions) route - they are made in the UK and used by quite a few police forces. That is what I believe yours is. I have a similar empty case sat on my desk as I type this.
Have a look at UTMworldwide.com
They produce paint marker rounds, target rounds, 'quiet' blanks etc.

Andy, same here I was unsuccessful but couldn’t find the realised prices, how did you view them?
Go onto the Holts website and the first section on the left mentions, 'realised prices, sealed bid." Just click on that and it shows lots in numerical order.

I bid (unsuccessfully) on some items. The realised prices are on their website now.

I have one of these guns, which I bought on here some years ago. I personally, think that the Breda is a better gun than the A5 Browning. All internal parts are chromed and come apart without tools. Very good guns.

Well, it's never been easy to build your own wildcat in this country. Very conservative views and legislative difficulties making it a big pain. I've shot a .257 Ackley Improved built about 35 years ago for a friend of mine, using a Mauser action, Parker-Hale stock and personally imported Douglas barrel. My first three shots went into one oval under half an inch at 100yds. off a bag rest.
You initially, mentioned starting from a 7X57R - another friend, who collects sporting rifles, has a couple of these. Oddly, one is a bolt-action sporter, re-barreled from 7.92X57. We couldn't work out why any one would deliberately, choose to spend money re-barreling a bolt gun to that calibre - unless they had a lot of 7X57R ammo!
All good fun

Don't have one myself, but a friend has a .25/.303 (.25/303??) from Australia. On a LE action and originally intended for swatting roos, I believe.

If you are still looking for data, PM me and I will send you a scan of the relevant pages of the Nobel reloading booklet. Incidentally, I used Nobel 60 in 12G shotgun during the seventies and N80 in shotgun and .45ACP. I still have some N80 which I'm gradually using up in .357Mag. Rifle.

Good luck. I have one of these rifles. They are lovely!

I contacted the importers regarding these guns. The reason they stopped bringing them in (and the reason that they won't be bringing in any more) is concerned with proof marking issues - possibly, differences between SAAMI and CIP?
The videos that I've seen of these (mainly in the US) are quite positive. It might be a case of finding a load that 'your' 636 likes?
Hopefully, someone with first-hand UK experience can chip in.

All very interesting stuff.
My experience - .410 is usually better than people give it credit - when a competent person is behind the trigger.
9mm RF - Expensive but sometimes a better choice than a .410 2" - hampered by poor choice of shot size availability. I have a 20" barrel s1 shotgun / 'pistol' and it's really quite good out to about 6 or 7 metres where the pattern starts to fail.
.22 rf shotgun - Expensive! These days, mostly shot in rifled barrels which doesn't help the pattern! In a smooth bore gun it's a little better but personally, I'd think in terms of sub 3 or 4 metres.
Now, if you live in Italy there is always the 8mm cf. A reload only proposition with metal cases using pistol primers or plastic cases with shotgun primers. Relly, really cheap and very flexible loadings. Oddly enough, you could order the relevant components for reloading the ammo but getting someone to import a shotgun would be problematic and pretty expensive.
As someone has already said, in many cases a good air rifle would be a better option. But life would be really quite boring if we all did the same thing ...

Hi, can you please advise, is it fitted with a standard 4 or 5 shot tube or, an extended 9 or 10 shot - the photo appears to show a 'standard' length.
Many thanks

I wanted to go and have a look at this 'new' shop (Fox Valley Firearms) before Xmas and the need for a .410 cleaning kit gave me an excuse to pop along.
First impressions were clean, well laid out and quite well presented guns, accessories and equipment.
I'm not an airgunner and so, cannot comment on that aspect of the shop. They appeared to have quite a number and variety of shotguns and rifles varying from one or two Browning and several Beretta shotguns through to quite a few secondhand SxS and O&U guns of varying ancestry and quality. There were also a number of new Turkish guns from makers / suppliers that I've not come across in the flesh before - Spartan Arms pump guns and Balikili(sp?) O&U and semi-autos. Quite a lot of CZ rifles, new Mauser and Tikka and a variety of lever guns, GSG, Hammerli etc. .22 autos.
There did not appear to be a great selection of ammo on the shelves - I suspect that, as a newly opened shop, they are still in the process of stocking up.
I understand that it is run by a couple. The lady was happy to chat and didn't fall into the Mrs Grumpy category who seem to populate some gunshops.
As I say, I don't know anything about them but hopefully, they will be able to make a go of it in these very difficult times. I could be looking for a small bore shotgun early next year and I intend to a least drop back in and see what they can offer.

Mapplewell Field Sports Barnsley - They re-opened on 2 or 3 December, trading as Yorkshire Field Sports Apparel. You can find them on Facebook Marketplace. Yes, the 01226 no. is NOT correct. The owner, Darren, has been giving out a mobile number. I bought some AKU 'Brown boots' from them last week, mail order. When he realised that I lived in Rotherham, he dropped them off at the house that evening on his way home. I paid a lot less than I've seen advertised elsewhere and the service was excellent. I will certainly go back for other kit.
The RFD who was there has moved to new premises on Manchester Road in Stocksbridge - trading as 'Fox Valley Firearms'. He's taken over the old NatWest Bank - from the photos it looks pretty impressive. I've never dealt with him so cannot comment. I intend to pop in before Xmas and have a look around.

Am I right in thinking that this is a fixed, full-choke?
-
I have one, well designed and grossly underrated.
-
Jacko,
I also live in Rotherham. I get Alerts but nothing firearm specific. I'll ask via our Club WhatsApp group.
NOT had this letter.
These days I find SY very good and accommodating where they can be. Yes, a few years ago they were very, very bad but that has changed markedly.

This is all about politics and making the public feel as if 'something' is being done. Science and logic take a back seat. I'm just back from shooting in Germany and whilst over there, I was chatting with a Belgian friend who told me that lead shot isn't even permitted for clay shoots in Belgium.

Yep, second hand Falco's pop up all over.
Small world; I've just bought a gun from them!

Mk70 - I have asked the same question of various distributors / importers, without success! I even emailed the Falco factory. They were very prompt in replying and directed me to a Harrogate based wholesaler who had purchased from them some time ago but not re-ordered. I have one of the Falco 9mm shot pistols - on FAC. I was interested in one of their unusual 8mm cf over / under shotguns. You may find that an auction or one of the online sites is your best option. Good luck!

I scrapped an auto a few years ago. I already had the same model and bought the 'scrapper' as someone had somehow blown up the barrel! The barrel was given to an RFD who wanted it to show customers what a bulged barrel could look like . I kept the stock, fore end, trigger mech and all the internal parts, plus the choke. The action body with mag tube attached and the bolt, minus useful bits was surrendered to the local FEO who was happy to take it off me and have it taken of my SGC. No problem and I got a load of useful bits for almost nothing.
