  1. I see what people are saying and can see their point but having been around guns all my life I don't personally believe there is such a thing as a non lethal round that can be fired out of a firearm just because of the energy involved. Once you start to say that one round is less fatal than another is when tragic avoidable incidents like this one in Manchester happen. All firearms for safety's sake should be treated equally, and lethality taken as granted. I was wondering how I would behave if I was a armed response officer and got a call and upon arriving saw what has been described here. Upon arriving I think it would be quite clear to myself what was happening and would not take the heavy handed approach. Bank robbers, assassins, armed thugs tend not to hang about in fields at night time. I would also go as far to say that if I was the observer in the helicopter I would be able to relay that what was going on was legal to the ground units long before they were at the scene. Maybe I am looking at it too professionally, who knows. Maybe they were just treating it as a exercise at chippy18's expense. I agree with CharlieT though that a certain amount of respect and civility was not shown to this shooting party.
  2. Why do you have to practice being shot at with a lethal cs gas round? I fail to see any reason at all. You have to practice shooting them, If your practicing getting shot you need to take a long hard look at yourself. Blank firing guns have killed people before. Do not fire firearms at people in training situations, end of, How stupid do you have to be to not see people will die?
  3. You must obey all reasonable requests from a police officer armed or not. But officers lately don't seem to have any common sense. Especially whereas pigeon shooters on farmland are concerned. Their ranks in my experience seem to be getting filled with bully boys and girls, which is a real shame. Where was the common sense when all the firearms instructors at one police force thought it was alright to fire a 12 gauge at another officer? regardless of what ammo they were using. I find this staggering and quite simply criminal. I'm sure most if not all members on here understanding firearms and the criteria needed to obtain licenses for such, would not have come to such a bad decision under the same circumstances. Undertrained and badly advised seems to be the norm now so we better get used to fatties in black paramilitary police outfits abseiling out of helicopters into our pigeon hides shouting "red team go go go". Keeps them off the streets I suppose. http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/new...er_pc_shot_dead
  4. I've just bought a Beretta Teknys Sporting and I'm amazed at how little recoil there is. Might be due to the fact I've been shooting a Silma for twenty years. The Beretta shoots all loads with no jams. Was at a clay shoot last weekend and they had a patterning plate so I thought I'd see what it was like. Other shooters were watching and remarked at what a good pattern it was. This is reflected by the way it obliterates the clays to dust will all types of cartridges. Does your confidence the world of good. I'm now shooting hitting 80% of the clays instead of the 65% to 70% I was before. Its the 30 inch barrel and it swings so smooth. If you can try a Beretta you should, your shoulder will thank you. Hatstand.
