  1. i have beeen to the one at cottondale on staxton hill had my shooting lessons with allen there nice place to shoot in a valley
  2. Hi Humberside shooting ground at brandesburton near beverley i think has a range
  3. I think if that is the kind of thing your going to be doing with a shotgun you should consider an air rifle, and if you told this to a FEO i don't think you would get your SGC this is a lethal weapon and should not be treated like a toy for plinking at ground level targets. you should consider a few shooting lessons and shotgun safety courses beore getting your SGC and it would help your application.
  4. I had the black synthetic 12g multi-choke for price excellent semi-auto no problems cycled every cartridge i used would recommend, a bit stiff when first inserting carts but loosens up after a few carts loaded though. hardly any recoil good for a lady.
  5. Just seen an advert in sporting shooter for the new pointer o/u shotguns sporter or game 20g/12g with multi chokes and different barrel lengths £599 anyone heard of them (don't know what wood is like though for that price), been to website they say sell them but cant find them on it but its wholesale only site or it says enquire at your local gunshop anyone know of any gunshops that have them to look it. I want a 20g sporter multi choke was looking at a webley & scott 920 nearly same price.
  6. only just got my shotgun renewed about 2 months ago your not allowed relatives to be counter signers, i checked with humberside firearms. It does state this on the shotgun cert application, and home office guide lines.
  7. I would definately get shooting lessons with a good instructor, there worth there weight in gold they will give you a good base to your shooting knowledge and shooting safety, after that enjoy your new sport. Regarding your shotgun it depends on which gun your more comfortable with try borrowing a few different one's at your local shooting ground if your tall or well built i would go for 30" barrels for £500 you should be able to get a second hand browning or beretta or for a little bit more money a new lanber, bettinsoli or a semi auto escort or similiar it depends on the gun fit everyone's different i have a browning cynergy sporter with 30" barrels and it fits me perfect but but some people love beretta's its your choice try before you buy its alot of money to pay for a gun you can't get on with.
  8. you could try a few of these www.euroguns.co.uk , www.swillingtonshootingsupplies.co.uk , www.avalon-guns.com or www.breconretail.co.uk i have ordered from all of these online shops before and all have good safe delivery brecon is fairly cheap i ordered i browning extended diamond choke from them they were cheapest online good hunting.
  9. To ensure future shooting rights and privilages for us shooters both clay and game i would go for B.A.S.C everytime, there assistance and help is more wide spread than the C.P.S.A who just cater for clay shooters mainly were as basc champions any shooter. its upto you if you just want insurance go for cheapest but if your thinking long term about our shooting rights and safety go basc.
  10. His answer is correct on every level try taking your semi auto on any game shoot and i can be nearly 100% positive you will be asked to leave or to use another gun, they are a very fickly lot game shooters its tradition and an etiquette based affair and only comes about a few months of the year, and if your on a small family shoot and not told directly about your auto most guns will give you a cold shoulder all day spoiling your day and there's don't risk it or take a o/u as back up.
  11. I'm afraid gamebore don't do 20g cartridges in white gold, they do 20g low noise but not in 6's your going to be very hard pushed to find that size (6) in a subsonic and 20g as well you could try hull cartridge they have loads subsonics (chevrons) etc in 20g but in 7.5s thats what most subsonics are in mostly for newcomers to clay shooting. just wondered why you want subsonics especially for pigeon shooting there want be much recoil in 20g anyway. try looking at www.justcartridges.com
  12. Hi nugget just wondered why you posted this similiar question on this forum twice plus on the, Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading forum as well.
  13. I was looking at trying eley first lites what they like
  14. If its going to be used by your wife and son i'm afraid most budget cartridges are usually 12g 28grm 7.5 which normally give a bit of recoil and for a your son and wife i would consider a lighter cartridge a 21grm would give less recoil and probably be cheaper i use 12g lylevale express HV 21grm 7.5s no noticable recoil and you can get them at a good price.try some out or look around at prices alot of people are moving to 21grm cartridges because of the above benefits.
  15. Hate to say this but it needs a hell of alot of work according to that there are only four clay grounds in yorkshire and its missed out 2 of the best, east yorkshire and humberside shooting grounds name just 2 i can also think of cherry burton, cotton dale near staxton. needs alot of work before it can be used by most clay shooters. good lucky to the programmer. I while check back in a while to see what progress is made.
