  4. Just got back from 2 days stalking/shooting in scotland (Galloway). The total bag for the 2 days was 8 rabbits, 1 hare,8 crows ,6pigeon(All taken with my .17HMR) and the 2 foxes as pictured below taken out whilst stalking for Roe,managed to stalk 2 Roe but both were Doe's unfortunately. The foxes were taken with a steyer .243(Estate rifle).
  5. : Lost my lurcher to a tumour earlier this year(13 years old) ,i have naver been without a lurcher since i was 16 (i am now 42),i shoot a lot now and thought i may be able to get by without a dog ,but i can't so i am on the look for a Lurcher pup ready to be picked up at end of sept/oct,i like collie/greyhound/saluki cross but will consider any cross as long as parents are good workers. My last dog was a Hancock out of "Taffy"not the best dog i have worked but very good on the strike ,as with all the dogs i have had it will be kept very well and will stay with me all its life, not discarded at 6 or 7 years old.any body knows of any pups please let me know,i live in west yorks and do not mind travelling for the right dog.Cheers Steve
  6. Have just bought my Tikka 22-250 stainless rifle which is away at gunsmiths getting screw cut and crowned,i was originally buying the reflex T8 mod but have heard differing reports about them ie they rust! the other mod which has been mentioned is the Stainless magnum PES,any one had dealings with either mod or both, any feedback would be greatly apprecieted.Cheers Steve

  8. Go to "www.photobucket.com" and register as instructed it is then easy to upload photos from your folders to your album on photobucket.Under your photos ther are 3 boxes.highlight the text in the "IMG" box using left click with mouse ,all text will turn blue, then right click on text and click on "COPY",then come to whatever subject you have been putting on this site right click at end of your text and click on "paste".You have to do your article on pigeon watch first and then go to photobucket then bring your article back up again to paste photo in .I have tried to put it in as simple terms as possible i am sure that someone else will be able to explain it better.
  9. As prevously said £26 no photo,s no referee,s but you MUST remember to send your existing fac in also it can help to mention that the .17hmr ammo is safer to use near livestock etc as there is no rick.oshea(excuse the pun),I am only paying£15 per 100 for Hornady 17grain ammo (York Guns)
  10. Myself and antuk will be there ,can we get in free of charge if we come from Croatia?
  11. By the time you get there it will be finished ,Do you know the way to Armorillo?
  12. My variation for a 22-250 + sound mod has just arrived on my doorstep this morning,i have decided on a relex t8 sound mod ,but i am undecided over the gun.I am considering the tika 22-250 t3 lite with synthetic stock,as my budget for the gun is around £500-£600 also what magnification scope would suffice for foxing?Cheers Steve
  13. Well almost correct accept its the manlicher .308 oops just seen Rob got it bang on(pardon the pun)we were trying the new 155 grain winchester win steelheads
  14. Just been out early evening to zero in my mates gun and look what popped up in the field next to us .Brownie points for anyone correctly guessing the gun,the hare was shot at 140 yards on land where the farmer is that fed up of poachers he wants rid of all the hares which to me is a real shame,i don't mind getting rid of vermin etc but i think its good to see a reasonable amount of hares on the land as long as they are not causing too much damage to crops. :(
  15. Although we all call it mixy from what i have heard it is nothing like mixy that was first introduced way back when,i may be wrong and hopefully someone out there will know but is mixy the same disease now as it was then?
  16. Funnily enough the farmer who owns the land where i shot the fox also thinks it may be a badger, but where do i stand legally when it comes to shooting a badger  The main reason i thought it was a fox is because i found the lamb very close to where i shot the cub.It is a new string to my bow (foxing) so i am learning as i go along, can you squeek foxes in daylight?any tips and help would be greatly apppreciated Cheers Steve P.s i am just in process of getting my variation in for a 22/250. :(
  17. So we have to do this no matter what size reynard is!!!!!!!!!
  18. Just a small reminder of why we need to keep Foxes under control
  19. Went out with Antuk on his first permission, resulted with 9 rabbits taken with my Anschutz .17 Hmr and Antuks .22 ruger, belive it or not this land is only 2 miles from the centre of Bradford
  20. Many thanks for all your advise,is the .243 as accurate and as fast as a 22-250 ,also what size of calibre is a 6.5 compared to a .243?
  21. I am just getting round to getting my variation form filled in for a new gun,but i am undecided as to which calibre to go for.It will be mainly used for foxing but i have the occasional roe deer on my land.i understand that there are new regs coming in as to shooting of deer in england to bring it in line with scotland ,also is there any point in fitting a moderator to either calibre and if so why?.Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated and suggestions of which gun make to go for would also a great help, thank you Steve(I have up to £650 to spend on gun)
  22. I too have the 1417 and i do sling it on my right shoulder, but for some reason i still manage to catch the bolt.As for safety i decock if i am going through gates etc but otherwise just have the safety on,i find that if i load when i am ready to shoot the noise of cocking the gun can cause the intended target to buggeroff!!!I must admit this should not be a problem with the Hmr as the distance tends to be further
  23. Cheers for that at least i know all the Anschutz are the same also since i worked out the problem i can easily get round it just with a check on the bolt before firing .I think i will learn to live with it as the pro's outway this small problem or be it a pain in the ****
  24. I wonder if any one else has encountered the same problem as myself with a new Anshutz .22 or .17Hmr.I have found that if the bolt moves upwards slightly which can easily happen as you are walking round the land ,when you come to shoot, the rifle will not fire indeed the firing pin do'sn't even mark the case,if you immediately recock the rifle it fires no probs.I have tested both rifles and if you cock the rifle fully and then just slightly pull the bolt upwards slightly nether rifle fires ,it seems that the bolt can too easily be caught and moved, any help or feedback would be appreciated.Cheers Steve
