Shooting wood pigeons over decoys is simple, but don't AIM!! It comes with practise and, contrary to what Cranfield said, it is a matter of life and death, at least for the pigeon. Clays are easy, compared to pigeons and pigeons are easy, compared to clays. I stick with live pigeons and refuse to get involved in artificial games, with little discs.

Oh! Is it new year?
-
My pigeons are back on the OSR, so there!

Stick with the MCs, then you can drive yourself mad changing them all the time.

These days the term ****** is considered racist.........

A couple of gallons of petrol and a match, down his funk hole, would have saved a lot of trouble. What's wrong with execution in the field?

Sounds like a bargain. Our local gunshop charges £70.

Cranfield,
Bet you shot just as well as you normally do?

I paid £15 for a huge Dutch army bag. It holds everything I need for decoying, AND I can just get the kitchen sink in!!!

I use CCI 20 grain Gamepoints all the time now, for rabbits and the odd close range fox.

Looks like ET to me!! Try phoning home........

When the OSR is high, keep an eye on the patches with pink and yellow leaves, where you can still see stubble between the drills, or it's sparsely sown. That's where the pigeons will find it preferable to land and feed. They then just walk to the higher plants and strip them. There may also be parts of the field where frost and dew is dried off first and that's where you'll find them, particularly on the higher parts of the field where the soil dries first. When it's windy look along the leeside of hedges, spinneys etc. and pay particular attention to hedgerow oaks and beech.
-
Mine are under the hedgerow oaks eating the acorns, accompanied by the pheasants. They are gradually weaning themselves on to the OSR, but they're as wild as hawks.
