  1. What would you use to shoot a purple elephant?

    A purple elephant gun!!

What would you use to shoot a white elephant?

If your answer is, `A white elephant gun` you are wrong because there is no such thing as a white elephant!!

What you do is twist the elephant`s trunk until it turns purple THEN shoot it with a purple elephant gun!!

  2. I had one of those 12b Italian folders and lent it to my brother. Instead of pulling the lever in front of the triggerguard, to open the gun, he pulled the trigger and put a load of shot into a bank, not ten yards from me!!

  3. Double H, you might be right there, but one day`s use doesn`t warrant sending the magic roundabout back to Bicester!! Unfortunately when I got home I realised I only had one V section, so couldn`t put a couple of dead birds on the whirly. (Will Beasley is sending me one.)

I was obliged to use Florence and Dougal, the two plazzies supplied, and shot 12 pigeons, 2 crows, plus a rabbit, on the way back to my vehicle. Weather, and high pressure not helping, with birds loath to get up and fly, but there will be another day!! No pigeons have defeated me yet. As soon as I can get them to enter MY world they will pay the price!:oops:

  4. When shooting from one hide you ought to agree a safe system. I`ve shot a field with three hides along hedges, about 200 yards apart, and it doesn`t always work! The idea of stirring up the birds can backfire and you`re left with an empty field! ;) You`ll soon find out on the day.

  5. I`ve been using Deben hide poles for some time, but decided to get some from Will Beasley. Much stronger, with good kickers. They also collapse down more than the Deben and are much better for shooting from ditches. The fit is also tight enough to support the poles without using the twist locks. :D I gave the stealth netting a miss because my Camoreal is OK for my needs. Tempting though, with £10 off the poles and stealth combined, in the deal!! :D

  6. Will, thought I`d come clean and face the music ;) I`m not against magic roundabouts, and have done quite well without them so far, but I`m prepared to be amazed!! :D

Thanks again for a first class service at UK Shoot Warehouse, it was painless spending money with you, and thanks for the 10% discount. I`m out tomorrow to put your handiwork to the test.

  7. I generally set up around 10am, but if you can only shoot say one day a week and you want a mad hour or so, then first light is OK. When the clocks go back I switch to 9am which is the original `pigeon time` of 10am.

One problem with early starts is when the weather changes overnight and so does the pigeons`routine of the previous day. They may be concentrating on getting out of the wind, in a hollow or in the lee of a hedge, but with less wind the next day may change their feeding pattern. I much prefer to get out about an hour before I wish to set up so that I can watch where they are for that day.
