  1. I must be the strange one here, I dont buy a gun on how well it holds its price when I sell i tend to keep and also never brought a car looking at the resell value and in any case many guns brought secondhand probably are never anywhere near the price asked which is why they stay around so long

For £1500 you can buy any of 22 Browning B25's on guntrader or many other guns and the cost of gun repairs is normally very little on the most common guns and I guess the most common repairs are to new guns rather than worn in guns

  2. As others have said , I tell the other half they are all in the garage which keeps her happy, but then she never looks in the spare room where i keep my shooting stuff

Far cheaper when you buy cartridges to buy a thousand at a time and some places will give you a thousand rate even if you buy a thousand of mixed types or makes so dont be afraid to ask for best price

Try and keep them in a dry place at a constant temp to avoid condensation, so if in the garage place a couple of blankets over them

If your gun has multi choke just put something like 1/4 and 1/2 chokes in and leave them in until you have been shooting for a year, the reason is keep to the same chokes and cartridges and the only thing left is where you point it and your mount, the playing with chokes and cartridges will just complicate things without any gain

  3. y Bettinsoli Diamond has had just over 27,000 over nearly 7 years and spent £695 when new, £40.00 to have gun adjusted for fit and £60 to have gun serviced and new updated sears and springs fitted.

I can just about live with all these bills for maintenance !!!

John Bidwell at the Norfolk Show where he was doing his shooting display said be had stopped going to all the demo's he used to and cut down on the 50,000 cartridges he used to get through every year

  4. Do you have shooting rights over the wood area if not then might be best to ask and then you can shoot inside the wood or back garden with no real problem if next door complain, especially if you do it when they are out

Maybe a catapult would be better than a garden gun as more range and better killing power if you can use it

  5. Most find little need for multi choke maybe better to just open both up to whatever fits your shooting needs and then reconsider after a couple of years, don't forget each and every cartridge make / type will offer a different pattern, some big difference some minor you just need to experiment at a patent plate

  6. AS a shotgun owner I am quite happy with the firearms laws in this country. they seem to be reasonable and place sensible limits on the ownership and usage of guns

Pistols will always be a big boys toy in the uk but hardly a massive loss and there is still black powder pistols if you feel the need, I loved shooting Browning's in the forces but I also enjoyed riding a motor bike without a helmet or driving without a seat belt, times change and many more laws are made than deleted

The fact that guns are not used unlawfully very often does prove the general public are quite safe in this country

  7. I can only assume that a very tight gun bore within the normal 12 gauge range would have much more restriction than say a large bored back bored gun, the 12 g tolerance is very large compared to other gauges i.e the so called back bored is having a much wider muzzle than a tightly bored one

  8.

It's the smoothness of the swing particularly in a relatively light gun such as a 20 gauge. Personally 30 is plenty for me or even 28 for a general knock about gun.

For clays i could possibly understand that but for high birds, I find it hard to understand

Top shooters are normally sponsored by a gun maker and use whatever the maker wants to push on sales, they could all shoot just as well with basic guns as long as they fitted the same and had a while to adjust
