simply put, both calibres are as good as each other when weighing up the pros and cons... however if your sub 12 ftlb go with .177 if your fac "or thinking to go fac in the future" go with a .22 simples. cheers andy

ive recently seen both rifles up for sale on various airgun forums, so theres definitely deals out there and a chance to grab yourself one before christmas... ive personally owned an s410k (.177) which was indeed was as accurate as they say they are... if you do go for an s410 one good point to note is theres more than enough available modifications out there for you to tinker around with it until you hearts content... i cant say anything about the r10 as i have no experience with them. what i like about the s410 - cheap and accurate - lots of modifications and easy to work on - reliable in general "and especially a reliable magazine feed" hope that helps a little andy.

only way to find out your sweet spot is to invest in a cronograph, (mine is the combro mk4) ive done my s410k .177 and now im getting really nice groups all the time (because i know what pressure to fill the cylinder) once you get your crono, fill the rifle up to 200 bar and fire pellets through the crono until your cylinder reaches 50-100 bar... with the saved results you can plot the data onto a graph to view an actual power curve. whats also nice about this information is you can also see what fps spread you getting within your power curve and what power in ft lbs your getting. when i cronoed my rifle i was getting 11.00 - 11.30 ftlb within my sweet spot which equates to around 11 fps spread which isnt to bad. and my sweet spot was from 150 bar to 100 bar... i never shoot outside of the sweet spot as accuracy suffers and for me is considered a waste of pellets. id also recommend using mid weight pellets if you plan on tuning your rifle, you dont want a heavy pellet to push you over the 12ftlb limit. always stay within 10.5 - 11.5 ftlb hope that helps andy

what wood is the stock made from aswell? is it thumbhole or regular design? things like that can make a difference to the price aswell.. best thing to do is check out how much other s400s are selling for on a few different forums, 400 is probably the bench mark for this rifle with your bits included, id probably suggest selling he scope seperately.. atb andy
