  1. Bloody foxes! you've gotta hand it to them, I was sat up on my deck over looking the fields waiting for Charlie to come back for the rest of my chooks.

I'd staked out one of the slain from last night and bang on 9.30 there he was out in the field heading for the bait at 70 yards, bang! job done or so I thought? 30 mins later I catch a glimpse of something below me in the hedge, then I hear some clambering, next thing I catch sight of her climbing up on my compost heap right in front of me (Gary & Beardo will know exactly where this ****** was coming) anyway my heart was thumping, I let the safety off so quietly and let her have it at a full 14" away from the muzzle :o

Not even Gary could miss this one

Hopefully thats the end of them for a while, but somehow I doubt it

  2. Well they got their revenge last night!

We had our beaters day yesterday and things got messy up the pub afterwards, and I didn't get home till gone midnight, forgot to put my chickens away, and old Charlie had a field day :sly:

Thankfully my neighbour heard the racket and manage to chase him off and shut away 4 chickens, but not before he killed 3 of my Light Sussex cockrals :sly:

Guess where i'll be sitting up tonight :yp:

  3. Nick, I had a feeling of de ja vu!

Garys first fox the second we drove in, was shot in exactly the same place as yours, with 1 sat way beyond that, same as last year! I then told em to lamp to the right ( you know where I mean) and 2 were in the same bushes  Gazza was not quite as quick as you tho

Turned round in the field behind and he made up for his faffing with 2 in quick succesion (mildly impressed) in the same spot as yours ( I'm seeing a pattern here) I'm thinking of taking up guided foxing

I think the boys were quietly impressed with my calling, that squeaky dog toy insert had em coming at us from all angles

I'm definately of the opinion that the fox numbers are getting out of control  thats 32 taken from Stealth Stalker Safaris so far this year :o

And if Gary hadn't of cried of "because he was tired" Ahh bless! we would have got 20 plus, I'm sure of that  We didn't even cover half of what i had intended.

  4. I was setup this morning for 07.30 got in the hide and watched 100's of pigeons flight out of the woods straight over my decoys and on to another field 500 yds to the south. the field i set up in had pigeons feeding there on saturday so it just goes to show its a nightmare this time of year

This is exactly why you need other guns out  bounce the birds about. Failing that the next best thing is to flag or banger rope the nearby fields, this will be our tried and tested plan of attack as soon as any pigeon show round this neck of the woods :good:

  5. I really fancied something gingery and alcoholic last night so I did 50/50 between some Stone's Ginger Wine I found in the larder and Bell's.

    Not at all bad!

Known as a whiskey mac  It goes down very well on one of my local shoots (too well) :ernyha:

  6. Hi mate you can have your pic of 4 hobs that I need to find a new home for, 2 albino's & 2 poleys, they're from my own working stock & are coming up for a year old.

I just haven't had the time to get out with the ferts this year yet  and I know you'd give em the best of homes, you wouldn't need to bone out a rabbit for one of my stinkers

  7. I've just got back tonight from doing scafell pike a couple of days ago, conditions were appalling! and we had a few twitchy moments up there, especially after the sad news of a young lad dying up there the day before :(

The wasdale head campsite couldn't be nearer the start & they have some pretty funky pods on site, I've no idea of price though. Do not attempt to camp under any circumstances at the moment, I have never known wind like it through the valley.

The wasdale head inn was priced at a staggering £150 a night :o we stayed in a farm cottage at the bottom of the lake, but they have closed down for the winter. There are loads of B&Bs around Wasdale, i'm sure a google would sort you out.

Enjoy your trip and keep safe.
