  1. No apologies for this (especially as it is stealth stalkers wife)

I am a very tolerant wife of Stealth Stalker workng a good and hard job for Macmillan Cancer Support whilst Mr Stealth Stalker is out killing pheasants/partridge/duck/deer/rabbit etc..(and as I write this ******* it up in the pub) .I completely embrace the sport but am often left feeling like a shooting widow. In revenge I have hacked his account and ask that you show support of my work. Macmillan Cancer Support helps people with emotional/practical/financial and medical help in every town and county in the UK. We have already spent all the money raised last year so without your help we have nothing for this year. We are all affected by cancer and every day 889 people in the UK are told they have this awful disease.

    Any support is greatly appreciated

  2. I had the first beaters day on Friday, shot badly! 8 pheasant & duck for 22 carts  total for the day after 3 drives was 89

Another beaters day today saw my ratio improve with 6 pheasant for 11 carts :) total 41

I've got another 2 days left on Thursday and Friday :good:

I love this time of year

  3. I've been asked by two local farmers / small holders to help with rabbit problems over the last couple of weeks.

When I've asked whether their land is cleared for .22LR, one of them said yes, and one didn't know what I meant!

Is the onus on me to ensure that land is cleared, before shooting if the farmer has told me it is?

With the farmer who didn't know what I meant, how would I find out whether the land has clearance?

I suppose one answer would be for me to get an open ticket. Currently my FAC isn't open. Is this a cumbersome process or is it simply a variation on my FAC?

    Cheers

    Iaindp

Give the local RFD a call mate and they will tell you what the land has been cleared for, if it hasn't been cleared it will be down to you to get the RFD along to see the land & deem what calibre he will clear it for.

Experiance round here is they don't like .22 rimfire because of richochets.

Getting your ticket open, you will need to show alot of ammo going through on your ticket, lots of land available to you, a letter from a land owner saying he has known you for a while and feels you are safe and responsible, will help.

    Good luck

Failing that we can get out with the ferts :good:

  4. ******* Didds! scum bags :/

Also saw today something that brought a tear to my eye,

a lovely biddable friendly staff that had both he's ears cut off to the base of his head (apparently a fighting dog)!! tried to lick my face off!!

This was rescued and in a lovely familiy home with another 3 dogs.

I couldn't have a long enough run up with a cricket bat on the scum bag that afflicted that on the the poor dog

  5. I averted a potential disaster today!

I was beating on our local walk and stand shoot today when I noticed snow on the end of the barrels of a walking gun next to me.

I called over to him to break the gun & check his barrels, I watched as he remove the carts and blew 2 icey wads out the end of his gun, while he was doing this a lovely cock bird sailed over him. Hows that for timing!

I didn't even get a thank you

Watch those barrels with all this white stuff about guys!

  6. Hi, in all my years of shooting pigeons i have have never been able to decoy over beans as they have just come through. The best time to shoot them, i think, is after they have been harvested.

:stupid: Also the last thing to harvest.

  7. Just back from a great day shooting with a good bunch of guys!

After a request from Bakerboy (Terry) to see if I could help out a disabled shooter to have a go at game shooting I contacted a local keeper that I beat for to see if it was viable for a wheel chair bound gun to shoot on a walk and stand day, he was more than happy for someone less abled to attend, but the concern was him getting about the shoot and to the peg!

This is where Terry stepped in !

Next thing I know is, Terry has organized through Fieldsports Britain a Workmax ATV ( kindly donated for the day) with a driver from JCB to get Chris to his peg.

The first drive of the day in the snowy woods of Hertfordshire saw Chris fulfill his dream of shooting driven game! His face was alight at the end of the drive, his 2 birds for 4 shots will be forever etched in his mind.

The rest of the day saw everyone getting a chance of a bird or 2 & the craic & banter back at the shoot lodge at the end of the day was great.

Hopefully there will be a good account of the day on a forth coming episode on Fieldsports Britain.
