  1. AYA 2s are very nice guns. Expect to pay £850 for a good one or if a boxlock is preffered a 4 is a very good choice. Again upto £500 for a very good one.
  2. I bought a new single barrel baikal for £35 a year ago. Also the best way to double a baikals value is to put a cartridge in it!
  3. Unfortunately the decoying was called of as the keeper had a slight emergency in his deer park. Roost shooting i got 21 though. Never mind
  4. Im going to Kent this weekend with a friend onto his estate and told we are decoying over rape. Do i need loads of decoys or just a few, shall i expect a big or small bag.N.B. the field has not been shot over . any help will be greatly recieved
  5. 28 bores are very good guns. I borrowed one ( a Berreta 686) on a pheasant day instead of my 12 or 20 bore and hit more due to faster swing and i shot 29 and only 1 of them was wounded! What more can i say? N.B. most of the birds were 30+ yards and the gun was choked at improved cylinder and quarter and i was using RC 21gram fibre wad 7's ! When i can afford to spend £1000 or so on a new gun i'll be buying a 28 bore.
  6. Re. other post. Yes Hugh did live at River Cottage for approx. 5 years. The last series was filmed 2.5 years ago which is showing tonight at 5.30pm channel 4. Hugh nows lives in dorset but on a farm and is hopefully going to start a cooking school soon.
  7. A nice place to live rjimmer. Its also home to Nick Fisher from Shooting Times and Hugh Fearnly-Whittingscal.
  8. Off topic I know but rjimmer are you from Dorset , i saw your post about sending your letters to dorset police. If so which part do you live in? Im near Wimborne.
  9. I shoot at every seagull i see. They are not as bad as crows or magpies but take many young chikcks and are good egg thieves! I have found them quite difficult to kill so most are taken with my 3/4 and full s/s with 5 shot.
  10. Prescot is probably building them for the Asylum Seekers!
  11. Ive found with Berreta that they pattern much better with a 23/4 inch cart fired through a 3 " inch chamber. My 20 bore is so much better with these. Ive found Express and Rottweil and Viri pattern very well.
  12. I tried it on some winchester westerns and they were fine. OK on Eley VIP as well.Didnt cycle at all on Viris.
  13. Does any body own a Remmington 1100 semi auto. I have bought one and was told to use 32gram carts through it. I dont want to go that high so can anyone suggest a clay shooting 1oz ( 28g) and a 11/6 th oz ( 30g) suitable for pigeon and rough shooting in a fibre wad and cheap as possible? Thanks.
  14. Dorset Wildfowlers Video. £ 22 including postage. If interested www.dorsetwildfowlers.org.uk Address is there is you buy one (i would)!
  15. Would you or any other shooters be interested in the " Dorset Wildfowlers " video? Proper fowling and all shot in Poole Harbour.
  16. If i buy carts from www.justcartridges.com i pay £18 delivary for a 1000. If i order over 8000 its normally free. I find its best to buy with others eg. members of my shoot.
  17. i occasionally buy my carts over the internet. You just phone up and they deliver to your door by TNT and they check your shotgun certificate. Easy as pie! Normally cheaper to buy in bulk as i do ( 5000 carts at a time).
  18. Im sorry if ive upset anyone over the plastic wad thing. I just think they look a mess but its really upto personal opinon. The fibre wad cartridges i like are Eley VIP 30 g 6 fibre, Viri Choc 32 g 5 fibre, Winchester GB 30 g 6 fibre. If i was to use plastic wads i would use Hull pigeon photo boidegrable or Eley VIP biodegrable.
  19. What do you use for pigeons? I tend to use Express Pigeon specials 30 g 6 fibre as im enviromentaly friendly. I find these good through my cylinder choked lanber 12 bore. How much do you expect to pay for your cartridges? Does anyone use 71/2 carts as a lot of people do?
  20. I would like to voice my opinons on plastic wadded cartridges, I often walk past fields where i see loads of plastic wads laying around and wonder why people use the things, when fibre wad carts are so good these days? I think that we all need to become more shooting friendly and fibre is the way to go from a wildlife view and anti - shooting view. What do you lot think? THANKS.
  21. I tend to use a 36gram AAA or BB on foxs. Ive seen a lot of foxes wounded with people using to smaller shot such as 4s or 5s. I would not use anything smaller than a 3 shot size except when im loaded up with 6 or 7 s and its very close range e.g. 10 yards.
  22. I am an avid fowler and try to go out whenever I can. I think the challenging shooting and not being sure what species are coming into your decoys next is a great part of the sport.
  23. You can get winchester carts from www.justcartridges.com or if you live in the south give Lamberts and Wiltshire a ring.
  24. Does anybody have a 12 bore o/u or semi-auto for sale suitable for pigeon and rough shooting. No sporters please. 3" magnum preffered but not essential! South (Hampshire, Dorset way). Single trigger and multi chokes if possible.
