  1. I love the verge fusee movements! Some are exquisite! And I can forgive the little slips in time keeping for such beauty.

I know what you mean about the crystals! There are indeed many styles! I broke a few in the past trying to squeeze them in, until I learned about the correct measuring process.

Once I am sorted on the property ladder, and can spare a little cash I plan trying to source the staff or indeed the complete balance wheel and staff assembly to repair two of my watches.

For now they can quietly wait :)

Very nice  and even the fob too :good:

Very nice  and even the fob too :good:

Looked for ages for a fob that was'nt engraved, eventually found one and had my initials engraved on it, the chain was originally a double but i did'nt have anything for the other end so i split it sold the remainder and i use it as often as possible. Had it on a lot over xmas and new year it's a great talking point and people who appreciate a nice timepeice always comment . Don't know how many jewels the movement has but it does have them

  2. If you really wanna go budget try a Shark Porbeagle, Got one with rubber strap and one in gold ,very cheap but very well made ,had mine for 3 years now still on same batteries or as suggested Seiko also got a SN617 nice dress watch.

  3. Just got tickets going on the Sat with brother, looking forward to it had a look at english shootings review on you tube seems to have all the bases covered may well buy something whilst i'm there .I take it it's like the Midland game fair where i bought a Greener GP last time just take your SGC and your good to go yes?

  4. Surprised the fire brigade did'nt take the opportunity to practice car roof removal .They seem to take every chance with every police car on merseyside thats been involved with a P.V.A. (police vehicle accident) i know. i deal with the aftermath lol

  5. 5 years left on mortgage ,then living rent free for 5 years then 2 x 25 year goverment pensions kick in (me and the wifes).retire at 60 ,no state pension till 67. Will get beer money jobs to keep us busy ,then continue living rent free in our home as long as possible. Well thats the plan ,now watch some faceless civil servant mess it up ,lol.

  6. Great bloke he sourced not 1 but 2 spare barrels for my browning double automatic after i had exhausted all other searches ,thought i was going to scrap it at one point. While i was there i gave him a old belgium hammer gun for free, he may still have it knocking around.

  7. Any of you guys been yelled at for using a pump on clays?

I usually bring my whole armoury, o/u, semi auto, pump action, martini action, just looking for a lee enfield 410 bolt action to complete my collection,i'll shoot anything at clays love the weird looks lol

  8. Got given one of these a while back, mines not a mk11 any one know the difference?

Looking at pictures on web the difference seems to be the pins, the mk1 has half moon locking pins and the safety lever looks slightly different. The mk11 has a single slotted barrel screw and all other pins are held in with circlips, not sure if the internals are slightly different i think generally they were all the same?

  9. It's always going to draw a crowd, all of us who grew up watching zulu, plus the youngsters who have never seen one and like the mechanism.

You can shoot pairs, if they're not too quick, just takes some practice to reload that quickly. The old big game hunter's trick of a shell between two fingers makes a difference.

Lovely looking gun, mine has a lot of checkering worn away and the screws have been removed by a series of clumsy gimps, latest of which is me, as the others have said, never seen one as undamaged. Nice

Tanks for your info i was thinking about how fast a reload could be i guess its a case of trial and error and see what style works best. Did shoot a original .303, 30 odd years ago my father had a huge collection of sec 1 firearms ,owning a gun club there was'nt much we did'nt own or shoot at the time. By all accounts they kick like a mule so look forward to my first shoot with it next week.

  10. I love these and they are steeped in history worth doing a bit of research on the background to the gun and the company. There is something special about these old guns not only are they built better than many modern ones, its intriguing to ponder the journey that they have been through during their lives. Great to see one being given the tlc it needs I am sure you'll enjoy it and just think it will be in good condition for the next generation!

Haven't got one myself, I am still addicted to my Browning Auto-5's and have a growing collection but one day I may find room in a cabinet for a Greener...

Fancy a original auto 5 to compliment my double automatic , I agree i have always wondered about the journeys these guns have been on ,i'm just the next chapter in there history. May have to get a bigger cabinet thanks for your response, regards, Mark.

  11. Cracking old 12 bore, purchased a secondhand one in the 60s for a fiver. Wish i had kept it.

I like the old stuff so this has a new forever home with me,by all accounts there becoming quite desirable now so who knows it may be a bit of a investment, but really bought it to shoot it ,like the thought of the single barrell challenge on the clays,
