  1. shouldnt you be looking for a few pics of a landrover with pigeons in it?? cos that pic of your "record bag" didnt quite add up im afraid! oh remember the snows coming, show some compassion for flipsake would you!
  2. so what are you saying drd, shoot as many as you possibly can because your lucky enough to be in a good area for them? serious question, not a jibe
  3. i just have 1 question for those that reckon its okay to hammer woodcock. just how much is enough? i know for a fact that greed is the prime motivation for alot of woodcock shooters and it sickens me. and what if something went terribly wrong with woodcock next year, and the population was threatened, would any of these guys think to themselves you know maybe i shouldnt have bagged 150 in the freezer last year. every time i shoot one im aware of what this hardy bird endured to reach these shores and it as an epic and tough journey, and as a result if i shoot 3 im pleased, but im even more pleased if i flush many more than i shoot.
  4. always with the hostility oth, just because i put points to you that you cannot answer so you resort to the childish tactics.thats so like you. oh by the way, the weather is to turn cold later in the week, i do hope you will be showing compassion to the pigeons now wont you!!! hahaha
  5. i guess the purpose of the pic was to impress with the numbers? personally i think that is excessive shooting of woodcock, but i cant stop you
  6. again you just dodge the points put to you! have you got a problem with ferretman saying he shot them bags? and dont deny it! its obvious you do
  7. oh dear it seems as though oths pigeon shooting inferiority complex is kicking in! how could someone possibly shoot more birds than the "MASTER"! just come out with it, are you accusing ferretman of being full of it?
  8. ok then i have come to the conclusion that i am the best woodcock shot in the country, seeing as how i find them quite easy to kill, and most here find them incredibly tough to hit! excellent!
  9. i have to agree with you there mike. there is an awful lot of idiots out there who shoot them and dont even want them. what is the point in that as you say. and blackbart i have shot a fair few woodcock in my life, and they do offer some very straight forward shots at times. if you disagree then what great variety of shots to they give you in comparison to the mix of shots pigeon provide? you want to believe they offer great shots when in reality they are mostly just straight away snap shots. and if they have to fly a bit of distance over an open field after they break cover then they provide an even more basic shot
  10. i have to admit that woodcock dont often offer a real test of marksmanship, and they are quite easy to knock down. i am by no means sore on them, i would shoot about a dozen each season. its the thrill about never knowing when they will spring up that gets me going. i disagree about the comparison to liver, dont think they are anything remotely like liver, and they have ample meat on them. put it this way, they have as much on them as a teal if not more. like sako i cant abide anyone who would look to shoot big bags of woodcock, but i know it goes on unfortunately. its a very short season on them, and they are widespread throughout the uk when they arrive from russia etc, so i feel justified in potting a few for the soup pot
  11. but maybe he just thought it was a bit silly to go down a level to have a shootoff with you. he didnt see the point in it? its all becoming clear now, i understand your hostility now a little bit
  12. jeez so much hostility, im intrigued by this benelli guy that got under your skin so much. was he a far superior shot to yourself, is that the root of the problem here?
  13. oh ok sorry mc sir. maybe your just a bit intellectually challenged then. not to worry, its good to see you were allowed to own a firearm.
  14. what sort of condition were the birds in ollie? did it look like they had been a while to get a bit of fat on them yet?
  15. have you been on the drink today or something?
  16. im a member of the ucpsa, which is affiliated to the cpsa. my classification here is used when i attend a shoot in england
  17. jeez mc you seem to have a real attitude problem
  18. mox as nitrox says chris potter sells them. visit his site at www.gun.co.uk or if you fancy decot glasses just type decot hy wyd into google. though they are harder to come by over here i reckon
  19. hi moxey. there is a good set of shooting glasses called high scorers with 3 lenses, which are around 80 quid i think. they sit nice and high on your head, some shooters prefer this. i use a a set of glasses called decot from america and have done for past 3 years for the reason they are the hi wide type like the high scorers. i dont like wrap around type of oakleys etc. as for them pilla glasses, (formerly hidefspex) they are a rip off in my opinion. at end of day you just want a good set that you see clearly through. the glasses dont do the shooting for you. im sure there are many other brands cheaper than 80 quid also. good luck
  20. what is there to enjoy about a fuzzy **** picture of 200 pigeons at most piled into the back of a landrover? i fail to see the enjoyment in that to be honest. and magman has a point, i thought the same as soon as i saw that pic, 550 pigeons would fill that thing to the brim! i often think your just a little bit deluded oth. suppose you will trawl the internet of pics of the most pigeons ever shot in a day and put that up claiming it as your so everyone will kiss your *** as the greatest pigeon shot there ever has been!
  21. that is just pure greed in my opinion, as well as a total lack of compassion for the woodpigeon, eh oth?
  22. but its interesting and refreshing to hear him say he "eases" off the pigeons in the summer saying they are our finest bird and deserve a chance to breed unscathed, in stark contrast to the kill em all attitude displayed by majority of efficient "pest controllers" on here who relish shooting big bags in the summer when its easier to do so!
  23. not knowing what that was would tell me you aint to experienced in cleaning out pigeons? had to be your first one otherwise you wouldnt question what it was! the meat on the gizzard is nothing like the rest of the flesh by the way, but ferrets seem to really like them ok
  24. its simple, either pack it in, or buy the other really expensive non steel alternatives to lead
  25. mc i could be wrong but but does the essex masters not use the cpsa classifications to sort the prizes out? i think they do. and no i wasnt referring to the targets but the event itself. you wont see a british open being held at a strawbaler because it probably couldnt do it. as for the cage issue, i think your being a little picky there just. i mean how are they going to enforce rules for someones stupidity. i like it, you dont. end of. you stick to your strawbalers, where your buddies go wahey when a clay is hit, with the cages of perfect dimensions, and leave the big shoots for the big boys
