  1. Just picked out a few quotes from Stephen Archer: Stoeger X10/20 and X50 Performance "I'm finding these BAM-manufactured guns to be accurate and consistent. My test target group sizes are now about the same as for QB78 family air rifles as I become more proficient shooting the X10, X20 and X50. BTW, the X10 and X20 are the same mechanically, differing in stock style and scope fitted when in Combo form." And then from his http://www.archerairguns.info/search/label/Stoeger%20Airguns]Blog. "The Stoeger X10 and the Crosman Quest 1000X are "the same" air rifle. Both are manufactured by BAM in China and carry US brands. Both are based on the B18/19 platform and have similar specifications." Stephen Archer has written a small book on the Stoeger Airguns, called the Book of the Stoeger X10 X20 X50 version1 I suggest you keep an eye on his blog and his postings on Network54. The last book (a service manual regarding the QB78) he wrote, is being used by SAG (Shanghai Airgun Factory) the company that manufactures the QB78.
  2. I'm not knocking the Stoeger or the BAM, I own 2 X SMK XS19 and they are excellent to shoot. The cosmetics are different, but the action is the same. Have a look at ArcherAirguns. The Stoeger Action: The XS19 action:
  3. The HW97, HW77 & HW80 are excellent airguns, as are the TX200 & ProSport, but they are heavy. The BSA Lightning XL is a light break barrel, but the light weight does add up on the recoil. I also like the Diana 34 Classic Pro. Except for the ProSport (±£430), all the other air rifles mentioned are below £350 New.
  4. The Stoeger X20 is manufactured by BAM as the B19. SMK import it as the XS19. The safety is different and there is a choice of stocks from Stoeger. Crosman sell it as the Quest, Umarex sell it as the Perfecta. http://www.china-bam.com/beining/html/prs1/t171-267/c401.html
  5. Busy with my own recon of a very sorry Webley Vulcan. They are well built and can quite easily be redone.
  6. Falcon Accuracy Plus for most my airguns- except AA in the S200 & Wasps in the older imperial rifles (BSA, Webley etc.)
  7. Well the cheapest are pennies. Add them to a peg and they are great targets.

The QB/XS 78 & 79 are probably the most modified airguns around. In the US these airguns are being modified right up to .308 cal. :yp: So yes the 78 should suit your needs and more importantly you can modify it to suit you.
  9. Well I believe that the airgun/rifle is just a starting point. We all seem to mod our rifles to suit us. Who really cares whether the shooter is using an SMK, BSA or Walther, as long as her is enjoying the sport and gives me a go or several hundred with the Walther….. We tend to forget that SMK owner (like myself) do tend to buy other airguns at a later stage as our finances and abilites improve.
  10. Hi, just recently got back into shooting (Airgun for now) and found this site. Many moons ago I did a bit of Full bore shooting, Practical Pistol shooting, Bow and rifle hunting. Mainly liked Metallic Silhouette target shooting, but that was then.... ^_^
  11. Thunderbolts do hit home with some force.... I shot one through the Tompson's guide and there was no visible distortion. :o
