Haha! Lots of beach launching in to heavy surf goes on here. Not for me, I value my boat and car too much!

Not quite normal practice and a little extreme, but you get the idea...

I get what you're saying, although I don't think your original analogy holds water. I suppose it depends on whether you trust the UK government to make laws...
I would agree, but would say the UK system of government, rather than a particular government. If there is a problem, fix it, rather than looking at foreign agencies to intervene.

Here in NZ, aluminium boats would significantly outnumber fibreglass boats. Coastline is rugged and Kiwis are rough ********!

I doubt you turned up in a rubber boat with nothing to offer, there's a massive difference between applying to emirgrate to somewhere like NZ, than arriving and expecting a hand out.
If anyone jumped through the hoops I jumped through to get in to NZ, they would be welcome here, the UK or anywhere as far as I'm concerned!

The United Kingdom (and perhaps most of Europe) seems like a huge mess re: immigration. It seems unstoppable. As the son of a refugee mother who came to to the United Kingdom in the 1970s as a result of war, and now an immigrant myself to another country, I'm hardly anti-immigration, but it does need to be controlled and within the resources of a country to cope. We are visiting Europe later this year. I have the opportunity to come to England. In all honesty, not sure I want to, think I'll be happier with my memories.

A slightly different story, years ago I worked with a man called Jack who went into hospital to have an operation on a tendon in his elbow.
They gave him the anaesthetic and he immediately went into arrest and died. They couldn't resuscitate him despite being surrounded by doctors.
He had a massive reaction to the anaesthetic, some people do apparently. That's the opposite end of the scale to being immune.
Probably malignant hyperthermia (risk 1:100 000) or drug anaphylaxis (risk 1:20 000), most likely a muscle relaxant or antibiotic rather than an anaesthetic drug per se. Alternatively, cardiovascular collapse due to a combination of the anaesthetic and pre-existing cardiac disease. Sadly, not everyone can be resuscitated.

Isn't that different from being immune to the opiate?
From what i see in your chart this is a calculation for how many are treated to prevent a bad outcome with the given drug.
My problem is that no matter how much you give me of an opiate i won't have any pain relief, it may kill me but it won't be painless lol.Number needed to treat neatly summarises the concept that medicine is somewhat population based rather than bespoke to the individual patient. For any given drug, you need to treat a number of people before you see the benefits in one person. It's a medical way of saying that not all drugs work for everybody. We know that already, but thanks to the Daily Mail for the reminder.

Living the dream with the RAV4 in 2012.

I had an old style 3 door RAV4, lots of fun driving on the beach, but a bloody death trap on the road. Spun it twice and I'm no boy racer. It didn't survive the second time, luckily I did!

Another happy CZ (452) owner. It also had a trigger job (Yo Dave). My only complaint is the barrels are too long. I don't see the point of a long barrel on a 22LR. Had mine chopped to 15 inches. Next time, it will be even shorter. The Tikka T1x comes with a factory 16 inch barrel and they seem to get good reviews. Would complement a Tikka centrefire nicely!

Have a look at Kleftiko as well - the Cypriot way of doing lamb - translates to Lamb Stolen - if you know any Greek Cypriots call them a Klefty - The guy who now has our local chippy gets called that - he thinks I am joking but his prices are nearly double what his predecessors were and I mean it
I was going to mention kleftiko. It's also made with goat.

As above, or off direct heat and cook a joint low and slow for 2 - 4 hours depending on size. I'd wrap in foil and add some olive oil to stop it drying out plus seasoning. Throw it on the hot grill for a few minutes at the end to crispen it up. Getting hungry just thinking about this!

woke minority.
From what I see in NZ, the woke minority will rapidly become the majority. Wife and I are both in our forties, had a traditional education and middle of the road in terms of politics, perhaps a little to the right in my case, and a little to the left in hers. We both think the world has gone completely mad.

Any good for eating ? that's my only interest in a bit of fishing now LOL I usually trade rabbits for fish but loose out as the fish need cleaned and my angling mates want the rabbits cleaned
Snapper are great for eating. White fillets, good for fish and chips. People do swap fish for home kill or wild game meat, but it's technically illegal. That said, it happens a a lot on a small scale.

I loved fishing off the beach during my last trip to NZ. Who new the Wainuiomata coast could be so good!
Had plenty of blue cod. I don’t eat fish though so put most back.
Land based fishing can be great if you visit more remote areas for obvious reasons. I can catch fish of the beach where I live, but I'd have to work a lot harder for them. Also, I only do lure fishing now. I don't regard lure fishing as superior in any way to bait fishing, I just enjoy it more. -
Thanks. Known throughout Australia and NZ as snapper, but they are not a species of snapper at all. They are a type of sea bream, more correctly called silver sea bream. Not so different from sea bream found in Europe, but grow much bigger. A common, but highly sort after species that make great eating.

We're on a family holiday in the far north of New Zealand. Couldn't resist getting up early to cast a lure off the beach on ultralight gear.
First cast and...

I keep hearing on the radio (BBC) how Germany as a "pacifist" country since WW2 is having an existential crisis re: supplying weapons to Ukraine. Germany is consistently in the top five countries of the world that exports weapons abroad. Not so pacifist when it comes to arms exports it seems. A double standard? Opinions?

Non-native rats are a huge threat to native birds in NZ. I wonder what that plonker would do with them 😀

Something will have to change with the NHS. I'm instinctively against going down the road of private hospitals and insurance, but it's clear that the current model isn't sustainable. If someone can come up with a solution that can be sold to the electorate, then they are smarter than I am!
Is Donald Trump actually mad?

What I don't understand is why the bat**** crazy fundamentalist Christians support Trump. Whether you like or hate his politics, he is clearly not a moral man. Surely, everyone can see that?
