  1. Running a Landscaping Supply firm, expanded in a big way (for us anyway) June last year so just as things started goin pete tong. Were still meeting all our targets that were worked out before the rescession, so cant complain. It seems that the landscapers round here who have been going 10yrs plus are still going strong, but the guys who started a year or two ago are really feeling it. We used to supply a lot of new build/renovations were all people wanted to know was how cheap somthing was, now people seem to be buying what they like as their realising that they cant move in a years time as planned and want to enjoy it rather than maximise their profit.

  2. Use the self srvice checkouts old people steer clear of them as they are technology. whenever i go into tescos i find the self service things completely vacant.

Funny that, everytime I go to to tescos I find the till staff completly vacant.

  3. Riven Sandstone is normally packed at 14.62m2 Stone size, 15.25m2 laid (with the joints), thats for the 25-35mm stuff. The 15mm sandstone is a bit too thin in my opinion, but you may get away with it if its well laid and fully supported. Two of the large importers of stone to the UK, Midlands Slate and Tile, and Stone Eporium folded about 2 weeks ago so there are lots of stockists who relied on their products desperatly trying to source stone. This means many of the good deals (MST were retailing at £9.89 for Raj Green, the 25-35mm stuff too) have now gone out the window. Try the 2 firms I pm'd you, id be surprised if you cant get it delivered for under £12-13m2

  4. In the past he as tried to get a digital tv dish up and running but failed to get a signal because of the surrounding trees he cant get the dish up high anough.

    can any one help?

Get him to come up with an idea to raise the ariel up above the trees, then steal and cunningly adapt it to mount a rotary on. :good:

  5. that rattlers lethel stuff! sat down sennen beach last summer watching the basking sharks, had 6 pints and felt fine had one sip on the seventh and fell asleep! great days, great days..

  6. Used to use that road all the time, coming from sandridge its the right hand turning at nomansland. bout a mile from my house. (wasnt me BTW!). Must have been dumped, surely a fox wouldnt drag it 20 miles?

  7. Its been slow for me so far, when ive been out Ive just had the odd double pike and a few jacks. Still tench season coming up soon! Cant wait for that, getting me Lobs ready and stockpiling stale bread for my crumb as we speak! Had a nice chub last time I was out, 3 weeks ago now :good:

This coming season Im looking at a few proper eel sessions, was supposed to happen last summer but work got in the way and only managed a 3 day session and blanked for eels, but had 2 tench on worm so not a complete disaster.

Well done on the barble too, they dont half pull back dont they!

  8. It Really All Depends On What Height You Want Your Boots !!!!

    I use and swear by " Brasher Hillmaster GTX Walking Boots " £ 105 , Goretex ,

I have had 2 pairs of these and i have to be fair they are the best boots i have ever owned . I use mine ALL year round across farms chalky tracks , Mud, And just General Stomping .

They are extremelly comfortable from the word go straight out of the box , No breaking or wearing like other Boots . They are fully waterproof , Breathable , and above all " VERY QUITE " . Stalking in these is fantastic nice soft quite soles so you get really close to your prey , quarry etc .

They are cut low ankle height but i have never had a problem with wet legs or shins or anything , obviously being sensible.

Even in the summer time i never have sweaty feet and i wear these ALL DAY Long.

Available in millets or blacks outdoor shops . Go and try a apir on you might like them .

Good luck hope this helps .

    Lozninja

Yup, very good boots! Use mine for most of my 'outdoor' stuff, and they are deffo the dogs wotsits

  9. Stayed at the Hotel Amrath over christmas and can thoroughly recommend it. The Rijksmeuseum was closed for a refurb, but should now be open. Theres a resturant called In De Wag or somthing that was very reasonable and had Pukka grub, had rabbit there for my Xmas dinner! Leidesplein has a few good nightclubs. The redlight district is oppressive (loads of English crackheads there, but didnt see a dutch one, odd I thaught), but still worth a look round if youve not been. The Church is a nice freindly coffeeshop, If you have a smoke its worth a wonder round the Zoo and Aquarium, watching a monkey jacking off while your stoned is frankly hillarious :good: !

  10. no, but ive seen an elephant fly...

    :good:

ok no i havnt, (i dont think), ive seen them on plenty of lamp posts and stuff though; why?

How the hell do the elephants get on the Lamp Posts?

  11. Well I've never been searched by the old bill in my life and neither has anyone I know - probably because I haven’t given the police reason to suspect me of anything...... I have seen searches take place and have to say the police always seem professional and courteous. I really think some of the people on here need a reality check - CharlieBROWN 'doing nothing wrong' I doubt it, there must have been something about your behaviour to draw the attention of the old bill (either that or you match the description of a suspect for something) - I really, really doubt the police would just search you for nothing... What in the hell would be the point.. And as for KOZ's point 'imagine a local copper has a grudge on you' what that implies to me is that you've done something wrong now doesn't it matey.. Or have you been watching to much shameless...

I can assure you that I was walking down the pavement, coming from the Peahen towards lloyds bank. There were two policemen by the entrance to the maltings, they asked me what I was doing, and if I had anything on my person I wanted to tell them about. I hadnt. Do I have anything sharp in my pockets, No. So they patted me down, and asked me to empty my pockets, obviously nothing to find. They started to write out one of those ticket things, with all the information on why they had stopped me, I interuppted and said I didnt want one and left it at that. I dont know why I was stopped (granted they would have told me if id asked, but by that point I just wanted to find a Kebab and a cab home), as you said I probably matched a description of someone thay were after, but the attitude was what annoyed me, and the fact that many of my friends and even an old boss had walked by in the time it took for them to search me and I could feel them all thinking 'ohh, whats he done?'. Its not a nice feeling, and the general attitude from them was one of arrogance.

I know a few policemen, and a rather attractive WPC, so know that there are good officers out there, but I still think many are in it for the chases, the uniform and the power.

  12. I have been searched before in the middle of St.Albans Town centre on a Saterday night.

Until you have been stopped on the street, doing nothing wrong, and searched with everyone else staring at you wondering what youve done, you will not realise how embarrased and degraded it is possible to feel. And do you get an apology when they find your doing nothiong wrong? Do you ****. For a lot of coppers it seems to be a power trip 'look how much power ive got over you, Cower before me, mere mortals.' Unfortunaly too many (not all) seem to have this attitude and its not on.

  13. I've remembered the airline we booked through - it was SAS :good:

Try them if you haven't already

When you arrive do you have to jump off a Chinook hovering 1 foot off the deck with rifle in hand, in the middle of the night before sprinting to find good cover?:rolleyes:

  14. I spoke to her a couple of times on the phone. Mary usually does my ticket (just got it back off her, after getting another .17HMR another .22lr and a .270 added :good::D:no: )

That Kate sounds like a knowledgeable, nice girl. There's a new fella working there too and he knows F all about anything.

Let me know how the permission hunt goes and I'll be willing to take you out shooting if you need any guidance etc. There's a couple of people on here who I shoot with and we all live locally.

I went to School with her brother and played rugby with her fiance, and yup shes a nice girl, and you sound like a gentleman and scholar. Thanks for the offer, and ill let you know how the hunt goes!

  15. Just down the road from you, Near the OAs ground, sandridge side. Shooting wise air rifles in the back garden at the moment, but hoping to have some more free time this year to get some bunny bashing in when I can find a permission or two. Fishing seems to take over most of the odd day I get off at the moment though!

Wasnt a lady called Kate you met was it?

  16. Hearts are really handy like that. Luckily they moved to the Harpenden police station about a month ago, which means they're a two minute walk from my house B)

I thaught theyed moved from Gosling to Hatfield, near the Galleria? Looks like a pretty swanky building theyve got over there too!

  17. Right on.. So it is you who have got it made.. My wife is Spanish but here family tree started in Ireland

Possibly descended from the survivors of the Spanish Armada, the Spanish lost loads of ships off Ireland, apparantly many survivors stayed there. Im told there was a stong historic link with Ireland and Spain (Catholic Church, Being at war with England etc)

  18. My Neice is five and at Primary school, apparantly last week she went to school and told her teacher:

'My mummys boyfriend has got a big bag of guns.' (hes in the army and shes not quite grasped what it means yet)

She then said: 'But my uncle Joe's gun is bigger!'

Teacher had a laugh about it with my sis, and that was it, so their not all odd.
