  1. Steve don't want to alarm you but check on VF forum regarding these sure plugs overheating and catching fire

My old company had one sent to me a couple of years back as Vodafone signal is naff by us and I stopped using due to it getting very hot. Never Googled it but I've never had any plug top get as hot as it - plus it was so temperamental working it was ridiculous.

  2. Not nearly the same scale but in relative terms, I've just had to buy tape for putting camera marks down on studio floor, normal gaffer a few quid a roll, less sticky version £18.50 per 25m? I'm thinking of spending the evenings de-stickying gaffer and selling it on

Weird you should say this as we have extra sticky gaffa tape that resists high temperature and it costs £36 plus VAT per roll.

  3. I haven't fished since I was a 15 year old but I remember these.

I bought my best mates Daiwa off him as he got a Mitchell and that would be mid 80's

The only bad about his was it did not have a skirted spool so line would get below it - much to his annoyance !

Also remember my first pellet gun - The Gat :)

  4. I love mine and mine has probably put best part of 80k rounds through it and have to say vary rare for me to have a stoppage with it

    Wow that's a lot of mag loading - your poor thumb (-;

Only around 20k through mine but as you say - love it for its reliability .

    What ammo do you use?

I tend to stick with CCI Mini Mags.

  5. My 2 Barbour jumpers turned up today but no gloves. I guess they have run out, will call then tomorrow.

    Glad you got your jumpers.

Got my wellies which are great but had a very apologetic email saying no gloves due to stock error :-(

Over the moon though with the price of my wellies.

  6. Wellys on there way let's hope its for the pair

I'm hoping the same especially when one of the drop down options only had R as an option !

Here's hoping it stands for Regular ;)

Great deal on them so had to buy a pair.

Bought Hunters Technical zip ups at Christmas and they are good but the fit isn't quite that of my old Aigles or warmth.

So these at sub £50 are a cracking purchase and can wait till the winter in the cupboard.

Thanks to Muddy Funker for the heads up.

  7. I thought the law says that the homeowner has the right to buy the freehold

You are correct - but it's the hike in cost that's so unfair.

I have knowledge of a group of people in this process collectively.

Probably going to take 12 months plus, but negotiated price should be approx 2/3 of initial quote - or so I am told.

  8. Haven`t watched it since dear old Terry Wogan put his own brand of `P` taking humour to it. It was quite entertaining then.

How come the likes of Azerbaijan et al are allowed to enter ? I thought that the clue was in the `Euro` bit.

  9. hello, it is not a leasehold property as 4 wheel drive mentioned in his post, it is a bricks and mortor house build that can be purchased freehold but with the land beneath on a peppercorn lease, and if you look back at a BBC victoria derbyshire programme on the 2nd feb 2017 a Kate Kendrick was told in the process of purchase this ground lease can be purchased in future at a nominal cost of less than £5,000, so this hard working young lady and her family wanted what they hope many like her and 1000s of others across the united kingdom to have a dream home only to be shattered by the GREED of many now multi million pound house builders selling on the lease contract to another multi million pound GREEDY finance company now wanting up to £20,000 plus. if anyone thinks that this is ok and just how business works i do hope those with children or grandchildren or a family relative do not get caught up in this total and obscene rip off.

Worse case reported so far has been £7,000 cost with the house when new and 3 years later it is now £35,000

All down to builder selling their properties leases on to a third party !

In some cases owners were assured that increases would not be greater than Inflation - now that's some Inflation.

  10. We have an indoor 25m HO Approved Range and a couple of years back went over to rubber crumb as a backstop.

Used to be steel angled down to sand - messy and lead splash a big problem.

So much nicer now with crumb and its just piled up into bays at an angle - it's the same they use at equestrian centres.

Range is limited at 475 foot pounds impact but rounds rarely go into the crumb more than 4 - 5 inches !

One more advantage is that the rounds come out almost like unfired apart from when its getting time to empty and they hit another bullet.

It then pays towards itself as guys buy the lead to re-cast as quality is that good.

  11. Good to hear - they can be hit or miss.

Had the same experience as you and also had to wait 5 weeks once for another variation !

A young friend has just got his FAC through after 5 1/2 months with plenty of phone calls chasing it after the first 3 months.

Their are a number of problems owners are having with leasehold on new build properties.

It is worth checking before signing on the dotted line.

    Wise advice here.

Our lease was valued at £7k when we bought our property just a couple of years ago.

Now the remaining leases that were not bought by owners have been sold on to an investment company.

They now want double the amount, albeit apparently negotiable.

Worse case I've read was a lady who was quoted £34k for her lease 5 years after buying her new build - it was originally just £5k !

This will become the next PPI situation as original builders state ground rent (lease) will not increase more than inflation so everyone thinks that's ok. Then the builder sells it on and the new leasehold owner can do what they like with charges.

  13. Currently visiting our son in Singapore where he works for a US organisation.

The story the yanks here have is that the guy volunteered to accept the terms of being bumped off but some while later they informed him that his next flight would be the following day. The guy needed to be home the following day so withdrew his offer. That's when it all kicked off.

True or false I've no idea. It could be just the rumour mill. But the sympathies here are with the passenger who was not given the complete picture in order to make his initial decision.

A friend in the know says exactly this - he took the offer then changed his mind.

All the video footage has been played out of order by news shows - makes better TV.

As for all his injuries then a split lip and some bruising ends up as missing teeth and all sorts.

Hope he doesn't get a penny and banned from flying - just my opinion of course.

  14. As an aside, it's nice to see someone repairing, rather than skipping, a domestic item.

So many tv's etc make it to the dump due to a simple capacitor failure, even surface mount components can be replaced if your careful and have the right tools.

Had one pack up on my Air Comppressor,Sort of expanded and melted lol.

Easy fix, just bought another off net..

Totally agree - plus some replacements are made so cheaply compared to what people throw away.

Done quite a few repairs over the years, one that I didn't do myself though was on the first generation of Sky HD Thomson satellite boxes - some 15 years back.

The capacitors used to swell and cause power issues and then eventually fail - new box was circa £150

I found a cracking guy in Buxton who unsoldered the failing ones and replaced with quality ones.

I seem to remember getting back a bag of a dozen plus faulty capacitors and parting with a very reasonable £20

More simple things I do myself but this was just a bit too big for me.

  15. I was under the impression that if you accept the ticket as it stands at the roadside and don't contest it, it's a fixed penalty notice. If you contest it and take it to court and loose it then becomes a conviction. As stated above fixed penaltiesn not notifiable.

The police can't convict you of anything only a court can after due process.

    This is my interpretation also.

An SP30 (3 points and £80 or whatever it may be now, or the possibility of a Driver Awareness Course) is a FPN only.

  16. Until we moved just over 2 years back I was always adamant I would not have meter.

We had a large garden, always at least 2 cars and large paved and decked areas so always using water.

    Well, what a numpty I was !

We were paying £65 per month to United Utilities but thought it was still cheaper than a meter.

We moved into our new house which has a meter - only the 2 of us but a 5 bed large house which is part of our pension plan.

We don't pay for surface water as we have large soakaways so only fresh water and sewage.

Our bill last year and now this year equates to only £22 per month !

We average 34 cubic meters usage per 6 months and don't skimp on using water at all.

    Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
