  1. thanks tiercel. knew those links would come in handy! my mother bought me private lessons for some stuff after i left school so i'm not too bad. i really missed outdoor stuff though. when i was a kid i used to spend all my time out in the fields and that with my friends but then had to spend more time at home because of my family. now i've moved out i can get back to the stuff i liked and i'm going to do shooting and fishing. it must be so great to be able to look after a bird like the one you have got. I would really love to have a bird of my own. i've got my own place now, but would imagine that i would need a lot of equipemnt and space before i can get a bird. for the moment i'll just look at yours if thats ok. i'll read books and get some knowledge so i can handle a bird properly if i ever get one. thanks colin
  2. thats a lovely bird. you should be proud!! i'm sorry if i'm being stupid but is it a hawk? i am pretty new to this and i'm learning about birds and that. i have been given links and that by other people on this great board so i can learn more about animals and they are a great help to me. I left school quite early and missed out on a lot of stuff you see. B) If i am asking a question that is too dull then don't reply! thanks colin

    Fishing

thanks bigdave i will try to enjoy myself and just hope the weather is ok when i go! I like fishing with floats as well and really relax a lot when i'm doing it. When i was small me and my friends went fishing with just line and a hook and would not have proper weights and floats but would use stones and twigs instead we never caught much but it was great fun and we used to waste many happy days there. my cousin said that i might be able to go boat fishing with him as his friend has got a trip going in the new year. i am a little bit scared of going on boats and was sick on the ferry once, but i will give it a go hope i don't fall in thanks colin

    Funny things

my friend steve was out on his farm trying to shoot rabbits and was lying on the ground in a bush when a bloke was walking his dog and it peed on him it was very funny when he told me he was really angry thanks colin
  5. i saw an advert for it where he says that we have to put the bullet in a gun and he has to stay alive. is russian roulette the thing they play on the deer hunter film where there is one bullet in the gun and you put it to your head and pull the trigger and hope not to get shot? i don't want to watch that on my telly!! thanks colin

    Fishing

i'm going to go next sunday with my cousin. he wants to take me fly fishing but i haven't done it before and it looks tricky i'll give it a go though. thanks colin
  7. thats ok yappy i was going to check anyway because there are lots of things under three feet and i wouldn't want to shoot them. cats and dogs and that B) i'm going to the gun shop tomorrow in my lunch hour i'll ask them for a good price for a rifle, site, bag and pellets. i'll get them to put it away for me behind the counter I'll have to have a half day from work to buy the rifle though because my boss has said that it isn't a good idea to have a gun in a supermarket because i am out in the car park most of the time i couldn't look after it. thinking about it do you think i should get a lockable cupboard in my bed sit for my gun? there are about 15 people living there and some are a bit odd i want to be a responsible shooter and make sure that i take as much care as i can. i was at steves farm today and he told me about lamping rabbits. is this a good way to shoot them? i suppose i would need a strong torch for that! thanks colin

    Hello!

i didn't think of eating what i shoot. when i do get my gun, i might try to make a pigeon pie as that sounds nice i have had rabbit before and liked that thanks colin
  9. wow you guys don't hang about!! thanks for the advice it is a great help!! Steve my farmer friend said that it is ok for me to shoot anything on his farm within reason. odviously i'm not gonna shoot his cows and that thanks for the website neil i will make sure i study it and i am going to practice my shooting in steves barn for a while before i try and shoot animals. i would hate to just injure one and not kill it all the way that is why i'm going to get a good site for my gun too as this will help me make clean kills on whatever i shoot there are lots of rats in steves barn i could shoot and also he has birds that land in his lower field so i will be shooting them probably most of the time anyway my cousin has given me loads of cardboard targets (the ring type and some with the shape of a squirrel ) so i'm gonna shoot them. i'm gonna go to the gun shop on monday when i get paid and see if they can give me advice on what to get thanks colin Mad****brain B)

    Fishing

hello there i have joined this board because i am about to try and buy my first ever air gun and go shooting in my farmer friends field and help him control vermin that are a nuisence to him all the time. i have been fishing many times over the years and found that it is really good to help you relax and that. the biggest thing i've caught is a trout but realy want to go and try catching big fishes by sea fishing. i haven't got much money but may be able to find enough after i have bought furniture for my bedsit to go on a weekend break somewhere to go fishing. my cousin says that i can borrow his fishing gear but wondered if anyone knew where to go for good beach casting or fishing off a pier. i also want to know if i need a licence and that because i don't want to get in trouble again thanks colin
  11. Thanks Yalppy!! another thing i'm gonna try to find out about the law and shooting because i know that you cant just shoot anything my farmer friend has said i can go in his lower field and shoot when i want so i want to make sure that i get good as long as i don't shoot his cows . do any of you guys know what i can and cant shoot? i don't want to have a day out shooting and then get arested on the way home because i'm carrying an indangoured species on the handle bar of my bike B) any help would be good thanks colin
  12. I'd just thought I would post to say hello. i love your board My name is colin and I'm new to this sport but have been interested for many years. I have had a keen interest in shooting, airguns and stuff for many years but was prevented from buying one by my mother until i moved away from home. up to now my experience of shooting is limited to shooting my friends rifle and gat pistol at the local wasteground but i have just moved to my own bedsit and will be buying a rifle for myself very soon. can anyone give me a tip on what would be a good rifle for me to buy as a news hooter? i will be using it for paper targets and of course pigeons and hopefully rabbits and other small animals as i am friendly with a local farmer. he has said that when i am more experienced that maybe i will be able to go out with him and shoot his shot gun and help him control vermin which is really good news for me i have only got a small amount of money saved up due to my job being not that well paid so if you could let me know about cheap rifles that have still got good power and that it would be really nice of you guys. thanks colin ps oh and sites would be good to <= me hahahaha
